Mate at first you need to decide about the video catageoy or topic that you would like to work with and then select a relevant name for your YouTube channel so that people can understand and will find your channel when they search about such catageoy. Relevant names will help you to increase your followers. Besides video content do matter in most of the cases. If you can create good videos then people will automatically find you even YouTube will recommend your video to other people. Of course description and a title do matter most and Thus you'll get many organic follower. Besides you can link building or do SEO for your channel. Where you should share your videos links on social media to attract more people. This is how you can increase your views.
How many people here answering actually do have YouTube channels that they are actually able to make money from? I mean, I have a channel that I am trying to grow, but I have not made money from it. The title, thumbnail and the country you live in makes the biggest impact, if it looks attractive to watch and sounds attractive people are going to click on it. from there you need to make good content so people dont click off and stay on the video , if they like you they will subscribe. Try to make original videos and dont copy someones idea , this is high risk but high reward , if you get viral you win big. Maybe you can focus on the video or the materials before you promote or search for more subscribers. If you can have many trending and hot videos in your place, I think people will come by themselves. You can try to make a video about something that looks creative, such as making a pie from ..., etc. With placing the right keyword in the description, I think that will be enough as a start. I don't suggest creating daily vlogs because its literally not possible to do in the long term, if you can't follow them in long term then all your reputation will be lost, and also even for a 10 min video it takes almost 5 hours of editing alone, then creating script for it and shooting the video makes impossible in real life to do everyday.

It depends on what type of videos you are interested. I would recommend to go for a small area which you really enjoy. If you like cooking for example and just start making videos about your favourite receipts then eventually people will start watching your videos. The only problem here is that followers are not so large. If you like taking there are probably more viewers.
