The purpose of this thread is to build a list of and discuss existing and upcoming zero-fee coins that focus on being a day to day currency (so not tokens which act as funding for some niche project).

I only have two on my list so far:
1) IOTA (IOTA)
2) Raiblocks (XRB)

Leave any others that I missed in the comments and I will update as we go.

The big question right now is why doesn't everybody uses these two coins if the fees are 0? Not enough marketing or not enough spread among exchanges?

Check those coins on CMC list.  The different system makes them famous. XRB has 7000 tx/s speed and 0 fee which is incredible.

Also there is IoT Chain - ITC which will use tangle but there will be fee because IOTA has no security but it will have. Keep your eyes on ITC also. They will use a bit different and secure system

How would this even work, zero fees cryptos? Who would confirm transactions and such?

In IOTA, for example, to make a transaction, you should confirm 2 other transactions. So you basically pay with electricity and computer power instead of coins. So everyone confirms, making the system fully decentralized

Tangle is still relativly new technology and as it is from this point you still have to wait a bit for your transaction to confirm. Thing that doesn't makes me a fan there is that first 100 addresses hold more than 60% of all coins. Plus every time you send a transaction you reveal part of private key which is why you have to constantly change to a new address just to make sure - which makes it one time use only.

And what about the business model behind it? Companies do need to make some money and fees, as low as they can be, can be a important part of their income.

Well even with bitcoin miners get reward and not ones that run full nodes which can tell you that not even bitcoin business model is perfect. These coins work in the idea of "free will" so if you support the network hopefully you will try to host full nodes at your own cost, and everybody does a bit of a job at securing the network.

Both and they don't have enough credibility, because with POW or POS we somewhat know and are sure it works. Other people just go with famous coins, scalability and fees are not the big problem, I personally don't mind paying few cents fee. It requires more work for exchanges to implement these as they are not based on blockchain.

It doesn't work, with no mining, there is no incentive other than having the majority of the supply and confirming transactions because you already know who has all the coins. you want to have a zero fee coin like IOTA? if you could list it on 30 different exchanges and confirm transactions with no fees, you could have a real zero fee coin. what if some body create thousands of transactions per second to spam the network? who would pay the cost? if confirming them has a reward then nothing could stop me from creating transactions and confirming them just to receive the reward.

Beauty of the tangle... it's a sacrifice, nothing is ever quite free, however in many's eyes it can be better than solidified TX fees

So that's two DAG coins listed above, with zero fee transactions. But are either in proper use by any community? And don't give me Iota community, none of them I've ever encountered have ever used it other than to speculate and trade. Just commented because it made me think, now reading up on ADK mentioned above, if DAG coins are suited for zero fees? I know Byteball has fees but this is to pay witnesses. I know it's been discussed and seems it could even be possible (not that I'd want it, just wondering about the technicality.
