Gambling is gambling regardless of what type people are into. Becoming addicted to gambling has one denominator and that is to chase those wins. Sports betting, slot games, roulette, card games, physical gambling, and any form of gambling, since these activities can give gamblers decent money in return, that's where it becomes addictive. However, instead of winning, losing always happens and these gamblers don't realize how much they are losing now just to chase that win.
The continuous attempt to chase that win is now the start of becoming addictive to gambling.
Exactly a good one at that, most gamblers are not aware that their continuous habits of spending money, chasing after loss and craving for bigger wins is what results to them becoming addicted gamblers and like you said Gambling is gambling be it of any types but it's the indulgence of it that results in one being addicts it doesn't literally mean land base or any of that as far as you spend an amount unwisely and lose to it and you keep doubling it for wins then your categorized as that.
Overall, I can conclude that someone who is eventually addicted is certain that from the beginning they saw gambling as a place to make money, and this belief is caused because from the beginning they did not use a rational mindset in responding to gambling and most likely they only saw from one side, namely the chances of winning but did not see the negative side, such as in terms of risk, and this is what ultimately led to their misunderstanding in responding to how gambling actually is and also which ultimately brought a far from wise approach when making decisions.
