Given that you have reformatted the list of DT2s in your opening few posts to be ordered by User ID, you probably want to remove my quote explaining the old order.

It is pretty much clear, there was an old Plagraized post as stated here. But yaa, there work to protect the community is worth considering. Some users were surely against a person like him getting in DT1 so quickly, but I don't think it is realted to the permanent ban anyway. I hope the ban is uplifted soon by considering there overall contribution.

I had never heard of him before today (that I can remember), but I don't think any amount of contribution is an excuse to cause harm without any kind of punishment.  

I don't see any reason why he would be ineligible for DT1 if he was unbanned from the forum.

Ok so let's get to the meat of it: Why was lovesmayfamilies banned? Maybe they were rushed onto DT1 too quickly but they were great at what they did.

The issue is a bigger in regards to DT voting. A banned user will currently have their votes counted indefinitely, even though they are prevented from otherwise participating in the forum.

There are two recently banned users who each have close to two of the "250 merit" votes (it is not unreasonable to expect they will each receive a total of 500 merit in the future) for DT voting. 

I guess this wasn't much of a problem when not many users had a custom Trust list, but considering the number of banned users with a custom Trust list (currently 206 users) is going up, it should at some point be dealt with.
DT2 shouldn't be much of a problem, if the ratings are good they can stay, if they're bad DT1 should exclude the user.

This varies per country. Where I live criminals can vote (and probably get elected too).

They cannot leave trust comments. I am not sure about the other two.

There is an argument a banned person (especially who is permabanned) should not have their votes counted for DT, and a separate argument that they should be excluded from DT2 (being excluded from DT1 will happen on its own). This is similar to how someone who does something bad enough that their freedom is taken away, also looses the right to vote.

Can a banned member still change their Trust setting? Also, can a banned member still leave trust comments? Can they delete their trust comments?

I can't tell, but it's the first one I've seen.

If he stays banned, he'll drop out of DT1 on the next update. Until then, he could be excluded by other DT1s, but will still keep his existing voting rights for other DT1s.

Is this the first time DT1 member banned in the forum? I have not seen Ban Appeal from lovesmayfamilis. It is abnormal but somehow shows that every one almost being treated fairly in the forum. Anyway, it is interesting to see how the case of DT1 banned member will be solved, and this ban's reasons.

I've updated the first 4 posts in this topic, overwriting the old list. I won't keep historic changes by adding more lists weekly (I have my Trust list viewer for that).

I have to say thank you to you for your hard works as usual. I visited your post there: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.50936358
And found that 94 DT2 members (from #283 to #376, out of 376 in your list) have not earned a single merit so far. Those users equal to exactly 25%, that is a significant proportion, that should be considered.

I'm of the opinion that we need to have more restrictions on the DT1 and DT2 qualifications.  If there were merit requirements for being listed on either that seems like it could help the situation, and possibly reduce the ability of a lynch mob from hijacking the system.

I would like to suggest that DT1 members must have a minimum of 100 earned merit.  That wouldn't change the the DT1 landscape too much, and only restrict a few users who are currently listed.

The other suggestion I'd like to make is that to be listed on DT2 you must have a minimum of two votes from DT1 members (LoyceV's suggestion,) and a minimum 10 earned merit.

I'm not trying to make the DT system less inclusive, or more centralized.  Adding these restrictions will make it harder for people to get on the DT list, but that's not a bad thing.  Ensuring that the folks who make it to DT are constructive, contributory members who care about the forum will help keep the DT system functional and pertinent.

Ah, you are right, fella. I meant it is one of indicators to point out potential 'fake'/ low quality DT2 members, it is a start, like you said. I meant if a real quality users have still been actively posting in the forum last year. It is abnormal to see them even have not received a single merit, or every limited merits. DT members, somehow, are high quality posters, compared to average users in the forum. So, they should received merits more than average users, or at least at acceptable rates.
Even they are more actively in collectibles, they can get easily get merits from such areas. Merits are not scarce.

I actually did not misunderstand the terms and roles between Trust and Merit.

Thanks for giving another example on why merits cannot be directly related to being trusted in the forum. I just got disturbed a little on why tranthidung got suspicious about a lot of DT members not having merits. Yes maybe detecting unworthy DT members who have slipped through the cracks by looking at their merits might be a start but criticizing them solely because of not receiving or having any merits at all is an entirely wrong way to look at DT members and the DT system as a whole.

Having merit means you have made “good” posts, while being on DT means you can generally be trusted, specifically to give good/fair/appropriate ratings. Or at least this is what these should mean.

I met someone a year or two ago who created his account *solely* to trade with others in the forum and that is quite literally all he did (I assume he also read some threads). He created his account, got locked out, and created an alt account to recover his first one, and his second account had total active time of several days and had a fair amount of positive trust from trades done on the second account. I believe I met him prior to the merit system being implemented, however he would obviously have no merit (he had zero posts) but appeared to be generally trustworthy. I wouldn't jump to conclusions and judge a DT member just because he/she haven't earned any merits so far. After all our trust is mostly based in transactions being done within the forum not by the quality of our posts here, what will make it wrong though is if we just make high merit earners a DT member just because of the post quality they have. DT members such as Carra23, ndnh, Eodguy149, and devthedev have been active in the forum in terms of running campaigns, buying/selling in the market place, buying cryptocurrencies with Paypal, and doing escrows all of them have 0 merits but they are trusted because of the successful transactions they have made. So I hope before you get suspicious at them having 0 merits just look at their trust summary before you judge them.

Agreed, but I think the merit requirement is appropriate as well. Since both DT1 and DT2 ratings appear exactly the same if you are using default trust, I think the same minimum merit requirement (and a similar not-inactive requirement) needed for DT1 should also apply to DT2. Minimum of 10 earned merit and a minimum of 2 inclusions from DT1.

I'd say 2 inclusions from DT2 would help a lot. DT1 needs at least 10 votes from users with earned Merit, so 2 votes from DT1 isn't that much to ask for.
