Done, I've added it below my explanation where I've linked PrivacyG's contribution.  Smiley

Awesome! I added your note as well.

By the way, for consistency purposes I'd suggest one more small change: replace

* : BTC addresses starting with "3" what are they ? simplified explanation.

PrivacyG has made a list of all Block Explorers above working without Java Script. You can find PrivacyG contribution here to find out more about it.

**Some elements are not showing or working properly, but mostly works fine.

Practically, I deleted the ": " after "*", in order to be same alignment and spacing as in the case of "**".

Regarding our survey, we have agreed to collect votes for the following issues:

- Rating from Blockchair Bitcoin Block Explorer exactly 8/10 points?
- Rating from Blockchair Bitcoin Block Explorer over 8/10 points?
(suggested by GazetaBitcoin)

Basically, I'd say to let everyone vote the preferred mark for this explorer... That would simplify the two questions into a single one Smiley

- Removing "comments" column from our table - Yes
- Removing "comments" column from our table - No
(suggested by several members)

- Including comments in "hover format" - Yes
- Including comments in "hover format" - No [...]

Am I right here?

In rest everything is correct. Let's do this Smiley

After some struggles with BBCode (can't be else, can it?) I also updated the translated topic by including the column suggested by PrivacyG (don't worry, the emoji stayed!), as I was curious to see how it looks in Romanian as well. I know that some more changes will follow but I had to add this update anyway so I did it now. Surprisingly, it looks great and no other adjustment was needed.

What I would further recommend is to either (1) delete the "**" placed next to "Partially", as nowhere in OP is explained what "**" means or (2) place the "**" next to "Works without JS" (thus it will look like this: "Works without JS**") and replace

Okay Smiley

That's true but who knows if there won't be a better sprinter in 10 / 20 / 30 years?  Wink
And in case we'd get a better sprinter, we need some numbers to give out "above" our current top number.

I also agree that features like this tend to go unnoticed by most users... Since it'd only benefit desktop users and all of those comments are subjective, then IMO it'd be better to save some space by removing that section.
Ok, I'll start formatting next weekend and post an update here when it's done.  Smiley

- Come to think of it, since the usefulness column shows subjective ratings, perhaps something similar should also happen to them. What do you think?
Since it's not taking too much space, I would leave it there but we can include it in the survey as well and ask if Bitcointalk members would like to have it removed.

I've not checked it but hovering might be not possible for mobile devices?

Indeed, it's not working for mobile phones, still I think that if you use this trick at least for the dates (and also make the header more condensed/multiline) you can at least from there squeeze more space. And the comments also.. they're useful, but not crucial, hence one can live without them on mobile.
I can add it in the survey as well but after removing the comments, we would have enough space to leave it there.

You are right, maybe we can make a public survey.  Smiley [...]
But, would it be legitimate to change it? If we change it, everyone would come up and try to change ratings?  Cheesy
In my opinion, we need a public survey to be legitimate.

Well, if you want so much to be politically correct, who am I to stop you? Smiley Seriously now, I think it's a good idea. Let's make a poll about it.
Noted, dear GazetaBitcoin.  Smiley
I'll try to arrange a survey next weekend.  Smiley

Picture this: we all know that Usain Bolt is fastest man alive, right? Now let's suppose he did not run 100m in 9.58" but in 15". And nobody else would run this distance faster than him. Therefore we would still consider him fastest man alive, right? No matter that he runs 100m in 15" and we actually know that it's possible to do it in 9.58". Does that make sense? Smiley

It seems the 1% trim worked just fine. I noticed the "as" from BitcoinWhosWho, which was not shown earlier, is shown now, as you placed it on the second row. Besides, the "t" from "edit", which was also not shown, appears well now.
We'll re-arrange it anyways next weekend, so it should be solved by then.  Smiley

From my perspective I'd go even more far than 9/10 and I'd give it 10/10 for the following reason: it's the best one we have! As a consequence, all other ones will be compared with best one, right? Therefore, if it is best one we have, it actually deserves 10/10, no matter that it can be improved here and there.

Ok, many thanks for the input. So, what's our conclusion?
In our current explanation, it says Atomic explorer is mirroring Trezor explorer, which should be accurate?

For me, the comment is fine as it is now. Let's see though what PrivacyG says about this.

@GazetaBitcoin and @1miau:
I do know both of you probably hate dealing with complicated codes, so I tried to simplify the table in a manner that it could show everything without being too wide in smaller resolutions...

I love complex BBCode the way I love wearing winter pyjama trousers during hot summer  Cheesy

  • We can create a hover box by using the abbreviation tag in order to combine the "Usefulness and Comments" columns.
    - Comments will appear whenever they hover their mouse pointer over each of the ratings.
That's a great solution and I could try to find some time next weekend to implement it but in my opinion, many readers won't notice such a hovering feature, even if we add a bold explanation.
I don't know as well if it's an option for the mobile version. [...]
If there's support for your suggestion, I would implement it, of course.  Smiley

I merited your proposal, as this feature of BBcode seems very exotic to me, as I only saw it used very rarely. I like it! However, it comes together with the lack of functionality on mobiles.

Having this in mind, together with the fact that 1miau already found a way for trimming the table enough (the power of 1% is so incredible, as always!) in order to still have all information shown, I guess we can use it like this (meaning the way 1miau trimmed it)? Comments column can still be left as it is, as now all text is shown... Practically we reached already what we were trying to obtain: implementing PrivacyG's new column while having whole table displayed properly.

I can implement it as it's a really clean solution and it would help a lot to gain more space buy maybe it's already enough to remove the comment section entirely as it's pretty meaningless sometimes and I can just link the comments from the members who initially presented each explorer?

1miau, what would you consider a 10 out of 10 Block Explorer?
Good question.  Smiley
I don't really have an answer for your question but as we all know nothing is perfect, I believe there are always few improvements to implement.
Maybe Blockchair could also be rated 9/10 but for whatever reason, it's currently 8/10.

Loooooool but you added Blockchair to the list Smiley Yet you talk like someone else rated it only with 8/10 Smiley
I don't know why I only rated it with 8/10 (but Blockchair is my favorite Explorer).
Maybe I wanted to see some more improvements?  Cheesy

I also believe it deserves a better mark.
You are right, maybe we can make a public survey.  Smiley

And, changing it is very simple, as it's only up tp you for 2 reasons: (1) you are topic's author, thus you can change marks anyway (smile) and (2) this explorer was suggested by you, thus you are not changing the mark against someone else's will, if you believe it should have a better mark.

Any opinions, if the layout above is decent, are welcome.  Smiley

You trimmed it well, padawan! And it's almost there! 99%! I will explain and also propose a solution for having it perfectly fitting the screen!

Take a look at this (this is how it shows on 1080p):

As far as I see, on 1080p, the comments section show only 96 characters (I counted the characters from this string: "movement of our balance. If using no-JS, click a random TX, Block or Address and edi" -- which represents the visible part of the text). The line containing "edit" word has 87 characters. The other truncated line (from BitcoinWho'sWho) has 98 characters (the word "as" is not shown). As a consequence, we are in need of 2-3 more characters for "Comments" column.

As shown in the above picture, I think we can shorten "Usefulness" column with 3 characters, by deleting that emoji. Having "Usefulness" column shortened then, maybe "Comments" column can be expanded with 3 characters.

I hope this helps.

It's a very valuable contribution and I would like to add it to my OP but each table column would even get smaller

Sadly, this is true. Yesterday, when I saw PrivacyG's update of the table it looked seemed to look fine... However, today I inspected it again after your reply, as I did not understand why columns should be smaller. I observed now that in its new shape, the column for comments is not fully shown on the screen (at least on 1080p resolution). Practically, in order to see everything written there you have to drag all text to the right...
Same here, I need to scroll as well.

Maybe it is shown fine on higher resolution but most users have 1080p therefore the table should be kept in its actual form.
I'm viewing it from my largest device but I'm sure it won't get better on smaller devices or even mobile devices, so I've cosen the approach to add PrivacyG's contribution below.
We can still change the table or add the column on the right side but it might be cut off entirely then.

so I've added a sentence below

PrivacyG has made a list of all Block Explorers above working without Java Script. You can find PrivacyG's contribution here to find out more about it.

That also works Smiley I added this update to the translated topic as well.
+1  Smiley

By the way, make sure you write PrivacyG's name properly, my dear 1miau. The name should be written between tt - /tt BBCode  Grin

If it gets distorted on your display, maybe it is not a good idea to add my column to OP.  Does my table fit better on your screen if we shorten the Usefulness column by a few underlines?  I am sure there are a few columns we can tighten up to make more space.
We could do it like that, if it's ok for everyone:

Thank you for the support.  I did not even consider it would look different on a 1080p display.  I am using Tor Browser, which is by default trying to avoid any finger print.  One of the measures is it runs under a certain window size by default (around half the screen of a 1080p display).  So on my browser, it looks fine.

If it gets distorted on your display, maybe it is not a good idea to add my column to OP.  Does my table fit better on your screen if we shorten the Usefulness column by a few underlines?  I am sure there are a few columns we can tighten up to make more space.

Maybe it is shown fine on higher resolution but most users have 1080p therefore the table should be kept in its actual form.

so I've added a sentence below

PrivacyG has made a list of all Block Explorers above working without Java Script. You can find PrivacyG's contribution here to find out more about it.

That also works Smiley I added this update to the translated topic as well. By the way, make sure you write PrivacyG's name properly, my dear 1miau. The name should be written between tt - /tt BBCode  Grin

Yeah, I didn't check it properly yesterday just quickly edited OP and even then, my internet connection was lost so a few changes were lost...

Well, I have created the topic, man.  Wink
Yes, I do know that Smiley but only a small portion of thread starters maintain their threads after a few years [unfortunately].
Most likely, because of BBcode, when tables are getting too big and get messy.  Cheesy

So I added a column to show which Block Explorers you have listed works properly with Java Script disabled and which does not.  Maybe it is a helpful addition.

I added a column to show which Block Explorers you have listed works properly with Java Script disabled and which does not.  Maybe it is a helpful addition.

I think that's a very good idea, PrivacyG! Good job! This column offers more visibility for all those willing to try these websites while having JavaScript disabled. I think it would be a nice addition to the existing table. Besides, maybe this addition could also influence (in good) the marks of the sites working with JavaScript disabled...?
I can also add it to my table directly but that would cause each table column to get even smaller...
I've added it currently as a comment below.
What's everyone's opinion on this topic?

I've been using blockchain.com/explorer for a long time due to old habits, but I couldn't get used to its interface after their visual update. Also sometimes information such as new confirmation is updated too late. Blockchair.com is the site I use as an alternative.
I didn't even know there were so many explorers. There's no harm in having too much explorers though. People don't change their habits very often.

For some reason, Blockstream does not load at all for me.  The page refreshes continuously and never fully loads.  Weird, because in theory it seems to work with Java Script disabled too.  Saying this because the looping link is https://blockstream.info/?nojs

It works on my side. Just checked it now.

1miau, what would you consider a 10 out of 10 Block Explorer?

I am also curious to hear how a 10/10 website is like  Cheesy

I want to request something

Of course, in case 1miau also considers this idea as being a good addition, I will also make the change on the translated topic. Let's wait for 1miau's input though.

I want to request something.  I know not many use browsers with Java Script disabled, but I do and before I knew about Blockchair, I found it extremely hard to work with Block Explorers without having to reveal very sensitive information from my computer and connection without Tor and through Java Script.

Block Explorers that work without Java Script are to me a gift from heaven.  You can have Privacy and comfort at the same time.

So I added a column to show which Block Explorers you have listed works properly with Java Script disabled and which does not.  Maybe it is a helpful addition.

They are now using this explorer only for binance bsc chain,
There's also Aptos Chain [AFAICR, it didn't exist in the past].
- For those who might be interested, by default it's set to BSC Mainnet, but you can change it by clicking the green dot in the upper left corner.

LocalBitcoins is shutting down, so this is probably the reason why explorer will be permanently unavailable.
You're probably right, but based on "this archived list", I think something else might be the reason:

  • The first time that it started showing that error, was on "OCT, 13, 2022" and the "last active archive [AUG, 16, 2022]" was roughly five months behind [refer to the timestamp column].
  • There's also this "open issue" in Blockstream/esplora repo.

Damn, looks like I've missed it, should be removed now:

Probably it's not supporting Bitcoin or Ethereum anymore and only supporting Binance Coin because Coinmarketcap is owned by Binance...
I think it's safe to say they were using the other cryptocurrencies to draw more attention or rather traffic to their explorer...
Most likely and that's also how they got into our list here.
At least for our Blockexplorer list, Coinmarketcap's strategy has worked out.  Cheesy
Until now.  Wink

I'm considering to remove it into our "removed" section, do you agree?
Yes, I do Smiley
Done, it's removed.  Smiley

  • I just noticed that the "onion link of Blockstream" is the same as the V2 address of "Deep web explorers" and since it's no longer supported, I think we should remove them as well.
I've removed it and deleted the entry:
It seems that you "forgot to remove the latter part" that also uses the same link Tongue

They are now using this explorer only for binance bsc chain, and it's nothing strange if you know that CoinMarketCap is owned by Binance exchange and CZ.
Maybe their next step will be to say that bitcoin token on this chain is better than real Bitcoin,
Probably...
Maybe they'll offer a shady deal by giving some interest if you hold Bitcointokens on Binance chain for a certain amount of time, while interest is increasing if your Bitcointokens are being hold for a longer time.
Binanceconneeect  Cheesy

but I think they could soon stop using BUSD stable coin soon on this explorer, after Paxos problems Wink
