Ask me for Pools, Nodes and Explorers.
I have PM'd LoyceV about one spammer, who has copied and pasted my post as his own.
It makes it even worse, that it is a lending request and he only changed his own ETH address into it. I feel like he is just trying to get some free crypto, because of paying no effort at all. However as i've heard that copypasting is a serious offense here and causes permanent ban (not red trust), i have asked for LoyceV's advice and he said that is should post my complaiment into this thread.

Edit: I want to make moderator's job easier, so i will quote the posts here. In case that they get edited, there is an archived pages below.

My 0.001ETH lending request:

Hello bitcointalk! Although i don't have any reputation here, i wish someone could lend me a small amount of ETH. Im asking 0.001 for token transfer, and im paying 0.003 back. I hope someone can trust me with such amount Smiley

Eth addy: 0xf198ba85dfaa3caac82583f5f88470d3f9ab875d

BoostTM's lending request copied from me with only ETH address changed:

Hello bitcointalk! Although i don't have any reputation here, i wish someone could lend me a small amount of ETH. Im asking 0.001 for token transfer, and im paying 0.003 back. I hope someone can trust me with such amount  Smiley

Eth addy: 0x1243Fc337cAC2ce0426f4dCcB7d85dE16f6AbC95

Here is the post with my and BoostTM's thread, which he copied straight out from me: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.33214334

I've archived those pages for this purpose, let's make this forum better!  Cheesy

The billionaire venture capitalist is doubling down on BTC, likening the digital coin to gold’s online equal.

Thiel touts the No. 1 cryptocurrency for its size and its ability to compete with gold as a safe haven, saying at the Economic Club of New York:

“I would be long bitcoin, and neutral to skeptical of just about everything else at this point with a few possible exceptions. There will be one online equivalent to gold, and the one you’d bet on would be the biggest,” said Thiel.

But with the exception of a few digital coins, Thiel remains neutral on the rest of the cryptocurrency pack. He didn’t dismiss the possibility that bitcoin could be surpassed by Ethereum or other altcoins that prey on the leading cryptocurrency’s weaknesses, but bitcoin’s strength is in its size.

Bitcoin controls more than 40% of cryptocurrency market cap compared to almost one-fifth for Ethereum, as per Coin Market Cap data cited in CNBC.

That can be a good idea. Because Regional Language Managers will able to communicate with those people who has less knowledge over English. It will add up more people in crypto world. That will increase the value of crypto little by little.

The main reason why I would prefer a quote for on-forum usage, is standardization: it makes it easier to quickly see it's a quote than looking for a "quelle".
I agree, the quote function makes it 'cleaner'. I didn't use it that much until now because it makes everything harder to read as things get smaller and in many cases, it breaks the reading flow. But this incident here made me a bit more aware that people are actually concerned about plagiarism and that this seems to be important to them.
In the coming days, I'll successively go through my past posts and check them carefully  Wink

[...] I don't think this difference of interpretation should make you guys mortal enemies.

No worries, I harbor no ill feelings. As this is my hobby I have absolutely no intentions of having mortal enemies, my free time is much too valuable for that Cheesy

I do not see the difference as creating these graphs and tables require a lot of efforts as you know, and it seems to me that posting them pretending as if he created them is nothing but plagiarism.
I don't see him pretending he's the creator. The references he uses aren't "forum-style quotes", but clear enough to make it clear someone else created it.
The main reason why I would prefer a quote for on-forum usage, is standardization: it makes it easier to quickly see it's a quote than looking for a "quelle".
After a more thorough look, I would for sure not call this plagiarism.

Next time I re-post content, I'll use the quote-function, so that everybody is happy.
I think this is good to do in general. And when quoting, try to make them as small as possible without removing context. If it's just an image you're quoting to show it on a local board, I'd say removing all English text and only showing the image is just fine.

P.S is it good/right format?

I found the user mithrim has repeatedly posted merit stat graphs and tables, which were originally created by zentdex and posted in the threads:

[1] Merit Stat from theymos data
[2] Where the Merit Pours?

to German local threads and LoyceV's Merit data analysis.  Thanks to these posts, mithrim has collected 11 merits so far.

The problem is that mithrim typically does not cite zentdex, and seems to be pretending as if the materials were created by mithrim.  mithrim sometimes gave a credit to zentdex, but the citation is very small: For instance, you can see "*Quelle" at the end of this post for a link to zentdex's original post.

zentdex signed like "stats: by zentdex" in some of the graphs / tables, but not all.  As zentdex's analysis is quite informative, I understand people want to share it, and zentdex would be happy about that.  Needless to say one needs to give a correct credit to zentdex's hard work.

The correct way is to quote zentdex's original posts.  However, mithrim never quote the zentdex's posts.  The following is the current list of mithrim's posts.  I must say they are plagiarism, please check them carefully.

The list of mithrim's posts copying and pasting the graphs and tables created by zentdex

This post copies 2 graphs and 3 tables from [2], and mithrim obtained 4 merits.
This post copies 1 graph and 2 tables from [2].
This post copies 1 graph and 1 table from [1], and mithrim obtained 1 merit.
This post copies 1 table from [2] and mithrim obtained 2 merits.
This post copies 1 graph and 1 table from [1], and mithrim obtained 3 merits.
This post copies 2 graphs and 1 table from [2], and mithrim obtained 1 merit.

Wow, never thought that trying to be more active and helpful would end up in me being in a witch-hunt.
The images even have a watermark and show that they are by zentdex. I never edited them or cropped his name out, I also linked to him or the original thread.

What boggles me is, if you have a problem with the way I post, why wouldn't you say something to me personally? I would've edited the posts, no problem. I don't want to get credit for something I didn't do and I also create infographics and statistics myself, so I know how much work this can be.
You say that the citation is "very small". It's the normal font face and size. The problem now is - as I don't have any problem with making the links red and bold or actual quotes - even if I would do this, you'd only accuse me of trying to hide something.

It's so easy to point a finger and accuse someone of what might be considered a minor forbearance.
What's your angle here? Do you want to 'defend' zentdex? Do you want me to get banned? What do you want? You obviously don't want me to change the way I credit someone's work, else you would've talked to me, at least once.
This level of distrust resp. pessimistic/destructive behavior really saddens me. If you want to improve things, talk to people. Or am I just not worth it and it's easier to get rid of things that annoy you?

I really don't know what to say to your accusation as I only try to bring things to the local board as not all members frequent the Meta forum.
You're also saying that I never quote posts when I repost content and that's just not true. Until right now I figured that this is a forum and not some kind of board where someone's posts are being 'checked carefully' like in a scientific paper. But even there you cite the source and don't insert a photo of the original article whenever you refer to something as it's not mainly about who made the content you referred to but about what can be learned from it. I never claimed the work as mine and gave a source.

So, as you seem to have a problem with the way I posted but never saw the necessity to say this directly to me, either via PM or under one of my posts but instead, you chose to accuse me of plagiarism in a thread that aims to permaban someone, what do you propose?
To be honest, as irritating as this might be (and it is, at least for me), it also shows a nasty side effect of the new Merit System. Until now I never even thought about plagiarism in the way you obviously do. I saw this forum as a means of exchanging information.. but well, learning never stops.

Next time I re-post content, I'll use the quote-function, so that everybody is happy.
And for future reference: If someone has a problem with me or the things I did, please talk to me.

I understand how important it is to give an effort and do your best in order for you to get what you really want. I am just starting to think if it's worth it to quit my job and start focusing on this. It's bizarre seeing people making a good profit on this, in trading, choosing or investing on those good ICOs. It's not that easy, you have to give time to read and search at the same time be careful not ending up with a lot of scams going on online.

There are many exchanges, but the leaders of Binance and bittrex. what about bittrex? It is the best altcoin exchange, commission fees are very straightforward and simple. No matter how much you trade.
Binance - is the biggest cryptocurrency exchange in the world.

Don't try and convince them. You can explain why you're doing it and what you've done so far, but the more you try and convince someone to do something the less likely they are to do it.

Plus be careful, if they lose money they'll probably blame you. And if they make money, not necessarily thank you.

Eight out of nine posts by “salsa” are plagiarism.  (The ninth is a one-line shitpost praising an allegedly free “transaction accelerator”.)  The other two above-listed accounts are almost certainly sockpuppets of the same individual.

I shall now proceed to quote each and every post by all three of these accounts.  Yes, it’s that bad.

For its first post, “salsa” chose a modus operandi of copypasting the OP of the thread, in the same thread.  More of this is seen below.

I see a lot of people pushing for companies like Amazon to accept Bitcoin as a payment option. Have we considered the

implications of these decisions? Let's say we cannot scale to "service" the need for millions of new people who would use

this technology for the first time. What a big embarrassment would it be, if people waited 13 hours for their transactions to

be confirmed. Doing this now will hurt Bitcoin more than any other "bad" thing that has happened to it before.

We need to wait for the perfect scaling solution to address this problem, before Amazon or any other big retailer starts to

accept Bitcoin as a payment option. The Lightning Network might get us close, but it is not a proven technology yet.

Let's hear your thoughts on this?  Huh Huh

I can’t find the source for the third post by the “salsa” account; but it is obviously plagiarized, too.  It even references a “table below” which does not exist in the post.  It appears to be copied from marketing materials for Monex Investindo Futures (MIFX), an Indonesian forex broker.  Incidentally, the material is off-topic in the thread.

https://web.archive.org/web/20180322013759/https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2711756.msg27751213#msg27751213
What is the effect of spread on profit opportunities?
Often traders only consider commissions trading. In reality, trading profits depend on commissions and spreads. Monex comes with the lowest commission and spread combinations with no hidden costs that give you a lower break-even point and a 40% higher profit chance *.
* You can see illustrations of the effect of spreads and commissions in the table below

Why deal with market execution?
Market execution is an order to buy or sell at the best available price when the broker receives the request. The order will be immediately done without "requote" or rejection at the best market price so as to guarantee the speed of your transaction.

Why choose an official licensed legal broker?
As a legal broker under the supervision of BAPPEBTI, Monex has operational standards in line with applicable regulations, including a separate account system applied to all customer funds. This ensures the security of your funds is assured during trading. You can also enjoy the ease of withdrawing funds on the same day as all client funds are kept in account in Indonesia.

Similar as with the account’s third post, its fourth post is self-evident copypaste plagiarism related to an Indonesian service, stuck in a thread where it is off-topic (here deep on page 5).  This one appears to have potentially been run through a machine translation, and self-references “the authors” (plural).

https://web.archive.org/web/20180322014357/https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2694817.msg27751818#msg27751818

For its fifth post, “salsa” copypaste from an article about the outsourcing of graphic design.  But here, “salsa” added its own creative touch:  Two emoticons appended to the bottom of the copypaste!

Note:  The sentence, “Graphic design is one of those things where people like different things but dislike the same ones” is a witty quip which appears to have been plagiarized by other sites (e.g.).

Putative original—link and boldface here presented as in the original:

Graphic design is one of those things where people like different things but dislike the same ones. In a way, when a bad design appears in the world, anyone can tell it’s bad. That’s why you need to be extra cautious when delegating your graphic design tasks to someone else.

Once familiar with the risks, taking the decision of choosing the right outsourcing company will turn into a child’s play. Or at least your choice spectrum will be significantly narrowed down.

If you’re looking for a partner, we - from ICT Burgas, can connect any business looking for outsourcing opportunities with the appropriate local company and guarantee its efficiency and premium quality.

We’ve always preferred bad news served first so let’s try something unconventional and start with the cons of outsourcing your graphic design tasks.

  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Note:  The copypaste job did not retain formatting, but did keep the weird invisible whitespace on the apparently blank second line.

For its sixth post, the “salsa” account plagiarized an old version of Wikipedia’ Bitcoin article.  This text has been plagiarized (without attribution) on multiple other websites, and was likely copied from one of those.

Wikipedia’s edit history has many variations of the wording within this passage; there is probably one which is an exact match, which I simply didn’t find in the page’s voluminous edit history.

(Aside:  1rYK1YzEGa59pI314159KUF2Za4jAYYTd also shows up as an example address in https://casascius.com/AgreementToDeliverBitcoins.pdf, which is still served up with a last-modified date of 2011-02-04 17:39:13 (UTC).  Does anybody know what that address is, or where it originated?)

2011 vintage Wikipedia:

Bitcoin is a peer-to-peer implementation of the b-money proposal by Wei Dai and Bitgold's proposal by Nick Szabo. The principle of the system in general has been described in 2008 by Satoshi Nakamoto.

Someone who participates in a bitcoin network has a wallet that stores some keypair - keypair critiques. Bitcoin users can have multiple addresses, and the fact can generate new addresses without any restrictions, because creating a new address is immediate, comparable to generating a common

The “salsa” account’s seventh post is self-evident plagiarism from a source I cannot immediately locate.  It appears to be from marketing materials for “Journals, cloud-based online accounting software”.

Accounting according to the American Accounting Association is a process of identifying, measuring, and communicating economic information to get the right decision from users of corporate information. However, in the process many companies experience mistakes in the accounting process that can cause losses to the loss of trust from others. Here are some mistakes in accounting processes that are often found in companies.

Recording & Reconciliation Errors

As businesses begin to run smoothly, many entrepreneurs ignore the financial statements simply by reason of not having much time. By not logging business transactions, financial statements will be inconsistent with actual company conditions. Inappropriate and inappropriate financial statements can have a negative effect on the company such as credit rating to be bad or delivery of goods from suppliers to be not smooth.

Only Make Reports as Records

Many entrepreneurs see accounting only as a process of recording corporate financial data that serves only to calculate the balance of the company or the interests of taxation. But in reality, financial statements can provide information as a consideration chart to determine decisions or create strategies for developing a company's business.

Forgot Saving Transaction Proof

Often forget to keep a proof of a transaction like a receipt or note often happens to everyone, especially when attention and thoughts are focused on things. While receipts and notes can be a valid evidence when there is a difference in the number at the time of checking financial statements. Not only that, receipts and notes are also very useful and can facilitate the process of audit and taxation.

Mathematical Error When Counting

Counting errors do not only happen to the culprits but also often happen to experienced accountants. This error often occurs when in a hurry or when tired so can not detect the error. Error calculating when combined with input and reconciliation errors can be a big mistake in the company's financial statements. Where, if the error is unknown for months can lead to a more complex problem when it wants to fix and resolve it.

Those are some of the most common mistakes in the accounting process. To reduce accounting mistakes many entrepreneurs are entrusting their business accounting process with accounting software. Journals, cloud-based online accounting software can help entrepreneurs in making financial reports instantly. Not only that, with Journal accounting software, you can also monitor financial reports anywhere and anytime in real-time. For more info on Journals, you can see here.

For its eighth post, “salsa” liked a really stupid post so much that its controlling wetware almost simultaneously copypasted it under two different accounts, then praised it with a self-evident sockpuppet.

I wonder what is so significant about this post?  Why did this idiocy warrant such attention?

Putative original, by an account which last posted on 2017-11-22, although its profile page shows a login as recently as 2018-03-20 (mostly ungrammatical posts; interests include: airdrops, altcoins, “transaction accelerators”, praising the S2X team...):

One point I'd like to make is that while Blockchain is a topic that is often associated with Bitcoin, it can exist entirely independent of Bitcoin. There's lots of technical and intellectual "baggage" associated with Bitcoin, and those negatives shouldn't prejudice someone as to the possible uses of Blockchain.

I agree with you, thank you for that insight!

Eighth post of “salsa”, almost certainly the same wetware operating this sockpuppet show; note the timestamps on all the copies of this obscure post!

For its ninth post, “salsa” made a shitpost praising an allegedly free “transaction accelerator”:

your website is really good. that's really help me as beginners to understand important concepts surrounding cryptos.

Well, I suppose that’s “original” in the sense that I have no evidence of it having been plagiarized.  What a contribution to the forum!

Please guarantee that that shall have been the last-ever post by that account—and if any other linkage can be found, please terminate this person’s posting career!

I'm not sure what is going on with the Forum Moderation Policy thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=20333.620 but the last 10 posts are all copy pastes from earlier in the thread. I reported the 1st three but they keep coming.

is bitcoin helpful to the economy? for me Over the past few years, Bitcoins have been gaining significant importance around the world. Indeed, it is the world’s leading crypto-currency and the year’s best-performing currency. It has gained a staggering 35 percent across last year. Achieving this recognition has not been easy. Its association with crime, that is, the money laundering and narcotics through the infamous online black markets like Silk Road & Alphabay, and the alarming amount of price volatility left regular financial-market participants wary due to its potential risks. as i have read in some articles As of now, many central banks are closely observing developments in the growth of bitcoin. Many others, however, have already responded by sending out proposals for the issuance of a digital version of their fiat currencies. The central banks of Canada and Ecuador are a few among the first to explore such opportunities.

I'd give this guy the benefit of a doubt because he seems to be advertising this site (blockpit.io).
If you look at his previous posts he's quoted them multiple times and placed a link to their site below the posts.

A good website with nice articles to topics like this, you can find on www.blockpit.io
Maybe he simply forgot it this time.

Also, it looks like he's posting a lot in German and blockpit is a German news site, so he could technically be working for them.

The major cryptocurrencies are consolidating as prices attempt to form a bottom.  Momentum appears to be turning upward, but don’t be surprised of prices take another shot at the downside before making a move higher.

I just want to give you some information, to take care about Wink

There is a common misconception, that Blockchain technology automatically guarantees high security because of its cryptography and inalterability. Despite these definite strengths of the technology, the Blockchain ecosystem is not necessarily a safe haven. Even small security gaps can have a big influence.

What gaps or risks could apply, can be showcased by two fatal incidents, where hackers exploited weaknesses in the code of the particular organizations with the help of the underlying Blockchain Smart Contract technology.

In june 2016 the venture capital fund organization “Decentralized Autonomous Organisation (short “DAO”) has been deprived of approximately $ 50 Mio. in form of Ether during a business operation. DAO is a decentralized virtual organization, where members decide via votes, which company receives suitable risk capital - represented by a Smart Contract based on the Ethereum Blockchain. At the end of the voting the gathered Ether will be transferred to the elected wallet. An additional feature, the “split DAO” function, was the downfall of the organization. This function allowed to split the transfer of Ether onto multiple wallets, so called “child DAO”. It was possible via a Smart Contract, which worked technically flawless, but enabled participants to request multiple splits simultaneously, despite not yet balanced ledgers. The attackers were able to request a split up to 200 times and almost completely empty the DAO wallet. The weakness was in the DAO Smart Contract, the Ethereum Blockchain worked faultless and even to the attackers advantage.

To prevent this hack a simple review and testing before publishing the Smart Contract would most likely have been sufficient.

In August 2016 the cryptocurrency exchange Bitfinex in Hong-Kong has been compromised. 120,000 Bitcoins have been stolen from user wallets. To increase security, Bitfinex introduced a so called “Multi-Signature Key Management System”, where private keys of users were stored by Bitfinex itself and third party provider BitGo. The exact cause of the attack has never been confirmed, but the hackers were able to access all three necessary keys to perform a transaction on the accounts. Again the security gap was in the organizations concept and not the Blockchain technology itself.

Both examples show that the underlying Blockchain technology worked reliably and safe, but the applications built upon showed a lack of security and missing risk assessment, which enabled the hacks.
