Don't sweat it, Viz. I’m all for free-market capitalism.  Smiley

It's cool Max.
~
These works are just part of a whole currency series I have coming up using original Bank Notes from around the world, from the Cayman Islands, Zimbabwe to the ECB issued EURO (old versions...)

Over time as more are released it will all fit together as a commentary on Fiat and the cash issues around the world.

As for the Zimbabwe dollar, you're right, there are numerous artists around the world that have been using it to comment on either global or local currency issues. Valentina Picozzi is one of the more visible artists using the design, in fact her latest one with the micro painters is quite cool Wink

One of my current works (in progress) around Hyper Inflation
RBZ Banknotes under an Acrylic, laser cut overlay. Cutout in the shape of the Nation of Zimbabwe.

uses all 27 notes, all original RBZ issued currency, worth a grand total of 78 US cents at the time of issue, .... which is on a QR code on the back of the piece. This one will compliment two other pieces, one made of German 1923 HI bank notes ( all original!!) and the French 1796 Assignats (again, all original and antiques!!) ... an event recognised as the "first HI" event ....
so you see how currency is used through out artistic endeavours through time .....

Viz

Just as an added note: Artists have regularly, through time, used their national currency as the butt of their jokes. The dollar bill being a regular victim to the lampooning... 12 Funniest Things Ever Written On US Money - http://dailygreatest.com/funny/12-funniest-things-ever-written-on-us-money/

I will say this: ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

edit: thank you to those who are defending me. I just noticed negative feedback is bouncing around, and I don't think it's cool of you to leave retaliatory negative feedback Visique... if anything you need to accept criticism, good and bad, even if in the form of bad feedback. That's just a risk you have to accept if you're going to be floating creative ideas around.

Fair go, I am certainly not unreasonable.

Viz

Just unoriginal.

"Although not the first “Thug Life” bitcoin wallet to be seen, that honour goes to Max Mellenbruch with his superb $100 US Dollar bill work "

Something that was acknowledged with the first sentence of the OP. And they were never claiming to be anything else other than fun. And with 5 fundamental differences, enough changes to be "different" and, more importantly, functional.

@Lauda please don't misuse the trust system. Having read the stream of events, it's clearly not a issue where the trust of Vizique should be put into question. Your position of power comes with a responsibility, labelling people as untrustworthy in such cases tarnishes the trust system and renders it less usable for everybody.
The original intent of the trust system is to warn users of scammers,  not to damage someone's clean reputation, for something that is clearly not in any way scamming. (it's debatably copyright infringement (a civil matter - however from kialara's comments it can be inferred permission has been given) or some sort of plagiarism, but in no way could it be said to be criminal or a breach of trust.)

Lets keep the bad elements in this forum under control by using the trust system effectively, not alienating all the people whose intent is positive.

If people don't like them or think it's a ripoff so be it. I like it and that's all I've to say about this.

I ‘ll also take a set (PM sent).

I liked the designed, and IMO it is not mandatory for those that do not like the notes (or the story behind them) to buy.
I do not understand why all this aggression attitude going on.
Hopefully, Max will comment here, and clear the confusion.

As much as it would be nice to live in your world where nobody has to worry about anything nor take a stance against wrongdoing that's not the reality we live in.

Most people in this community seem to forget easily and not showing any care for the amount of shady and wrong stuff going in.

I will never just sit by the sidelines and watch it all pass by.

You are entitled to your opinion, I'm entitled to mine.

I'll take a set. These look like fun so why not. I know Max doesn't plan on making a cheaper version of his $100 Thug life bill as I asked him specifically about that do these will have to do. Grin

Seriously H, get over yourself....

What is homage?: deep respect and often praise shown for a person - might wanna check the bit where I point out Max's Note (and that I was NOT the first to use the idea) ... add to this the obvious differences:

The "Face" on each note is changed and is a core part of the design
They have NO btc on as they come, as Max's did
They have NFC on, as Max's did not.
They are meant to be used, Max's were not.
They are cheap, and made to be accessible, Max's were not.
They come with a Holo so a traditional QR code can be used, Max's did not.

But you keep telling yourself they're a direct rip off if it makes you feel better. Alternatively, open ya mind a bit.

Viz

It's very interesting to see that you completely ignore any questions I ask and rather come with comments regarding me personally.

Let's see if Max decides to comment on the matter. Depending on what you told him regarding your invitation to it.

I have a business to run, have fun Smiley

nb: I've invited Max M to pass comment on this thread if he wishes. Let's see what he says?

I forgot that are thus super busy individual who clearly is swamped in business yet always finds time to spend hours on slack, on here or wherever else you are. My bad.

Can't wait for max to get in here and share his opinion, but he's a kind soul so I doubt he'll bash you.

Did you approach him before making these notes btw?

You keep on with that philosophy that the forum is just a tiny corner of this market yet you keep coming back. Where else do you sell except for here .....

Get out more and find out.
Viz

Why not point me towards it if I'm asking you?
Why can't you respond to my questions?
Because I am under no obligation to you to reveal my sales channels duh!

Besides, I know you're trolling as this topic has come up in slack often enough, so you know from there. If you can't remember.... get more sleep.

Viz

Uhm.. You are really going to say that you have a lot of sales channels for physical bitcoin collectibles but you won't tell me which ones? I can assure you that the only places I've heard you selling from is here on the forum or on your website. Nowhere else.

But good for you that you have a bunch of sales at those hidden places, why keep bothering with this forum though?

Unlike others I never save logs from private chat groups, to each their own though.

So what if I have a bad memory? Never had a thought that some people have certain conditions that can make it difficult for them to do every day things, like remembering everything that is being said in a group of 50 people. Then again I expect nothing else from you Vizique, you are the most selfish human I have never talked to, from what others have told me that is how they experience it as well. You'd never do anything for anyone else unless there's something in it for you. Reminds me of someone else..

Of course I do... I travel to conferences and supply retail (and now wholesale) outlets to sell (bitcoin themed) goods, the recent CoinFest is a perfect example as you should know. And as for the forum, well of course I hover here, it's where I get info and some stock, makes sense to find suppliers at source. But you already knew that, right?

As for memory, well, if you have a failing one, that's unfortunate. Mine isn't great but I can remember events like CoinFest pretty easy and then the meetups and other events I go to. But then I've been doing that for years now. Actively taking part in the wider "Community" and seeking to make bitcoin on the high street a reality. Far more exciting than being a keyboard warrior AND you get to meet your heroes like Andreas et al. It's fun, I recommend it.

As for the "gossip" well, like MSM, there'll always be people that you get on with and those you don't, it's life.
Viz

So you sold these notes at coinfest then? As that's what we were originally talking about.

And you keep throwing punches that you think are going to hurt me, I really don't care dude. Whether you believe going to a meetup and presenting your collectibles makes bitcoin bigger, go ahead and enjoy (free beers anyone?)

And it's not really gossip though, it is how you are perceived as a person. But considering you made these without hesitation and even decided to call them just that "Thug notes" shows more about who you are. I don't mind it honestly, if you'd like to dig your own grave be my guest, but I sure as hell won't sit idle and watch you do these dishonest things. Not that I expect you to being able to relate to what it means to actually do something for others in the community without putting money in your own pocket.

I am using the trust system as it is intended to be used. I would not trust you based on this and that's that. What you are doing is called "payback" and is not what the trust system is meant for meaning you are abusing the trust system.

On another note. You state these were never intended to be collectibles and just made for fun yet you were talking a lot about numbering the first 10 of each series and then making un numbered ones for the rest, not making collectibles? You sure?

Either way, it's good to see the amount of praise you have gotten for these. People are surely lining up to tell you what a good idea it is, oh wait..

Indeed, I was going to make limited edition ones and ultimately released without individual numbering because... things change Smiley .... so that knocks that one on the head....you seek to berate me on a decision that was still fluid and ultimately got reversed, well played... oh, wait.

And as for praise, you are indeed right, it's been coming from all over twitter and FB even to the point of Andreas and Charlie both liking them.... Which highlights that there really is a bigger world out there and that the opinions of a couple of people on here, are just tiny voices among a larger crowd of decent people.

So, again, you're entitled to your opinion, but the weight of opinion is against you based on feedback and now sales. Many others see these for what they are, fun with a new twist in the NFC. That you cannot or don't want to, meh! C'est la vie.

Viz

You don't say? They liked a picture? Wow.. How many did either of them order?

You keep on with that philosophy that the forum is just a tiny corner of this market yet you keep coming back. Where else do you sell except for here and on your website that was coded by a 14 year old in 1997?

You say I'm entitled to my opinion while it's not even an opinion, you plagiarized Max for a quick buck, prove me I'm wrong. Until then the negative rating stays. On a side note as well, I'm entitled to my opinion but if I utter it you'll give me a negative rating. Makes sense Viz.
