Emailing you probably seems a lot less anonymous now than it did when they were filling out the survey.  Not to get into value judgments over pornography, but with a website, you are telling a machine that you like pornography.  With email, you are telling a person that you are a perv.

Yes, but there are a ton of free email services where they could make a new account. If anything, the survey is less anonymous because the forum admins can see how you voted. Given that, do you still think I'd have more success if I automated the process and made it a web service?

According to my theory, the answer is yes.  I don't know how much time or money I'd be willing to bet on the correctness of my theory, but I do know that perception is powerful stuff, even when logic says that perception is wrong.

So have you talked to them, or is this something you're doing on your own?

It's unofficial, but using a method they approved of.

So, where are the 11 people who said they'd "definitely subscribe"?

This is now possible — unofficially.

To subscribe, email [email protected] with your desired site and account name. (Note that you can create an account for free.) I'll reply with the cost and receiving address. After you pay, the subscription will appear on your account. This is a month-by-month subscription. Obviously, if you don't want to reveal your personal email address, you can simply make a new email address to use.

If three people sign up, I'll automate this more and make a website.

If ten people sign up, I'll try to get more official support from kink.com.

Think of it as an investment in your Bitcoins and a gift to the community. Official support here would be huge publicity.

So have you talked to them, or is this something you're doing on your own?

Who pays for pron?

People who don't understand torrent files.

People who have money, like a specific thing, and don't have the time or interest to fuck around with torrent files.

Someone with the name 'buttcoin1' asking that question, I just couldn't resist the smart-assed answer. Smiley

One thing that a user noted somewhere (it was a similar thread a few weeks ago) is that these companies make recurring payments so are interested in credit card numbers because they can charge monthly payments unless the user voluntarily unsubscribes. I don't know if this is the case, but anyway you don't lose anything for trying.

Many also let you buy a year up front, or six months.

Just guarantee kink more business. Guarantee it without putting any specific number on it. I have confidence in the buying power of this community...

Ehhhh please don't do that. Bitcoin is strong and compelling enough over the long term that false claims are not only unnecessary, but counter-productive (and immoral). We're not selling used cars here.

Don't guarantee it. Tell them, though, that it's another form of currency and that it potentially opens up a nice market, including a good number of, well, geeks that don't trust Big Bank and don't want a credit card. Smiley This is 100% true. You can also point out that many Bitcoiners have more bitcoins they can spend around than they have dollars. This is 100% true. You can also point out that because not many places take Bitcoins yet there are many people actively looking for places to SPEND them to support the currency. This is 100% true.

They're extremely likely to make enough extra sales to be worth the effort. No sugar coating or shady "guarantee" is required.

You don't think atleast 1 Bitcoiner will buy a subscription if it's promoted properly?

Man.. I have alot more faith in this community than that. Sorry if I am being to "strong" .

OP-  Great idea to approach them.  However, conducting a poll here is probably not a good market indicator. You should poll a group of people who are already subscribing to Kink and see whether they would prefer to have an anonymous payment method in which personal financial details are not stored on the company's server.

While polling current subscribers might be a good idea if you can do it, keep in mind that they'll probably be less interested on average.  They've already given their credit card info, so obviously that wasn't a dealbreaker for them.

I recommend http://walletbit.com ,

Gbyte was really nice, and SUPER fast at setting up this payment gateway for me.

Walletbit seems to have the most serious security that I know of and I use it for my shop http://bitcoincloset.com.

One more comment OP - the main advantage to Kink will be the zero chargeback risk AND the fact that they can accept customers from any nation in the world without risk. THAT should be your focus when/if you speak with them.
