Its a newspaper. They go to press, it is what they do.
How on earth does that confirm the story?

Who said anything about confirming?

I was suggesting that they aren't giving answers today because tomorrow when they go to press they will have a story about maza. It was just conjecture.

I talked to the Lakota Country Times in SD and the secretary of the President of the Lakota Nation (just googled and called).  Of the three people I spoke to none of them had heard of any plan for the Lakota Nation to formally adopt a crypto-currency.  One of them had never even heard of crypto-currency.  The paper asked for me to call again tomorrow because they were very busy going to press, and that they might have someone who could talk more with me then.

Can someone address why the Lakota would not know of their own currency?

Cross-posted.

Well, just the statement about when they go to press suggests that maybe a press push starts tomorrow.

I think he thinks that they are going to press with info about Mazacoin.  To make it clear, they were NOT going to press about Mazacoin.  They knew nothing about Maza at all.

I want to make it clear that I'm not trying to spread FUD.  Just an FYI.  I assume the developers of any coin shouldn't mind people having questions and concerns, right?

Well, just the statement about when they go to press suggests that maybe a press push starts tomorrow. On the other hand, I also wouldn't be suprised if a lot of people weren't aware of this, I don't think the dev planned on it blowing up so fast based on statements he has made. At this point too many major media sources have covered it for me to think it is a scam.

Forbes covered this story http://www.forbes.com/sites/jasperhamill/2013/12/19/native-american-activist-wants-to-swap-the-dollar-for-bitcoin/  back in December.

So it is not like this came out yesterday.  It has been brewing for quite some time.

In fact,  I was contacted a month ago by the DEV to see if I could provide him with an exchange for MZC.

What should my batch file look like for cudaminer for maza? I'm not sure what sha256 affects. I've only mined simple scrypt coins on my lowly gtx670.

Currently I have

cudaminer.exe -i 1 -l K7x32  -C 1 -H 1  -o stratum+tcp://mzc.rocketpool.co.uk:3333

And it just gives me "Boooo" result constantly at about 300khash.

What do you define as the difference between a press release and a real story?

http://www.theverge.com/2014/3/5/5469510/native-americans-assert-their-independence-through-cryptocurrency-mazacoin?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter

That story in particular doesn't strike me as a faxed press release.

That is definitely a news story, not a press release.  Thank you for the link.

I've seen press releases, but I haven't seen any independent stories.  I've done press releases before.  They look like real news stories.  All you have to do is fax/email the info to the press.  That's why all the stories are the same over and over.

Yeah the current hovering at 1000 kind of seems artificial, but a lot of people probably just like the round number.

It needs another push either from a major article (WSJ) or whales to get going again. But pretty much all cryptos are down today, so there's that...

And the arseholes are back on cryptorush with the fake sells at stupid prices...  ie the recent low of 0.00001000 is totally bogus.

Funny because I pointed out to Cryptorush on their opening, that the platform allowed to execute
sales at any price if they are matched as opposed to best price sell or being allowed to only post trades 20-30% of the actual price.

When people complain to CR about the bodged graphs- they say "yeah we know"   and do NOTHING!

At first they said that they will ban people... which is daft... if you allow people the function, then people can and will play with it... but all it means
I guess is you have to look back through the price history and ignore.

I have sent half my balance to mint, but I would love to see a big exchange get their mits on this..

The Verge article that was just published a few article says this:

Roughly $220 million flows through the reservation every year, through the Prairie Wind casino and other venues, according to Harris.

Hmmm... Litecoin like valuations!

It is ironic that a nation which was forced too give up everything they hold dear...centuries of tradition and heritage...confined too a reservation and spoon fed a new normal can rise from the ashes too create a currency that might be widely accepted! Treaty 1.2...
