But people should not forget that Metamask is a web wallet, online wallets are more vulnerable to online attackers, but among online wallets, web wallets are most vulnerable to attacks. I will still advice people to have their own individual wallet which is is open source, reputed and not web wallet. It is still better to go for Electrum wallet. And for holding large amount of coins hardware wallet would be better. Even Electrum can be used on airgapped device as a cold storage, it can also be an extension to some hardware wallets like Trezor and Ledger Nano, someone can decide to run his own Electrum server for privacy.

For privacy: Bitcoin Core
Best bitcoin SPV wallet: Electrum
Best hardware wallet: Open source hardware wallet
I think no one uses metamask to store a large number of bitcoins, it's a web wallet that has its own utility, I understand how important it is to store your bitcoins on an open-source wallet that isn't always online. But I think the utility of metamask comes in the web 3.0 applications and while spending your bitcoins online, we are approaching an age where you want to make online purchases as quickly as possible so having metamask is a much quicker option, It's riskier if you compare it to Hardware wallets or Cold software wallets but it is reliably safe for smaller amounts and at least much safer than custodial wallets such as coinbase etc.

ETH and ERC fans will see this act from Metamask as betrayal for them. They will think it is an indirect way of supporting bitcoin against the ETH network. This will also show that Metamask is copying steps taken by other crypto wallets, especially Trust wallet which is a wallet for different cryptocurrencies and their blockchain. Metamask will further get wide spread and famous and attract more users for this bitcoin inclusion. Just watch and see.

I've used Metamask for over a year now without any major issues, except once, that I almost got scammed due to a phising attempt, but that's purely my fault. Anyway, I'm still storing a decent amount of funds, some of which are invested in DeFi projects, however, despite it being convenient, I wouldn't use one wallet to store all my assets. Thus, I'd refrain from storing Bitcoin there as well, and stick to traditional methods, such as the Electrum wallet, which has proven its worthiness throughout the years.

Of course this is the best news that can be obtained from information from tweets that have been made.
This is good news but i don't know why you consider it to be the best news when more development will still happen in the future. Besides, most crypto related platforms always tweet about the latest development of their platform.

because frankly, I've always preferred to use the Metamask wallet because of the convenience that has been provided because it is enough with one account to accommodate the many available networks, so it is clear that it is very easy where so far I usually use many networks with different accounts.
Yes, Metamask is convenient to use. I hope people also put into consideration the vulnerability of web wallets. I like the new concept introduced by Metamask but I will advise you guys not to keep the huge fund in the wallet especially when it have to do with Bitcoin.

I really hope that Metamask will always provide the needed updates, because developments are also ongoing and need more innovation.

Oh no... this poor guy... i would've been so devastated...

Of course, this is a very big welcome development for MetaMask fans and users out there. Though am also using Metamask, this is not my first choice when it comes to crypto-base wallet as I am depending a lot with TrustWallet though one time I was a victim of an unauthorized withdrawal of a certain tokens in there and for which until now I still don't understand how the attacker did it to my wallet. Now, with Metamask and its addition of support for Bitcoin via a sandbox am sure this can expand the market coverage of the wallet soon and in my own opinion this should have been done a long time ago.
I tend to agree with those who do not trust metamask with their funds and now they are integrating bitcoin to use with their wallet, it will look like they are going the blockchain.com route with being a multi faucet type web-based wallet.
There was a crypto youtube influencer that I had stumbled upon recently that had their wallet drained due to him accidently leaking their pass-phrase while doing a transaction for obtaining nfts via this wallet.

If one isn't completely focusing on what they are doing when transacting via a web wallet, they can be handing the keys over to phishing sites/scammers quite easily.

metaMask makes friends with Bitcoin This is very good news. Metamask is one of the best multi-wallet wallets. Metamask Wallet is very popular and everyone likes it. Previously, only Etherium Chain and BNB Chain could be used. Nowadays, everyone has many benefits due to adding bitcoin. From now on, everyone will be able to do Bitcoin work with Metamask Wallet.

This will be very convenient for many users, especially since there are so many people using Metamask. It is probably one of the most popular wallets. Probably also convenient to trade on DEX exchanges. Most likely, new applications like Sushi Swap will be created for that, to buy and sell bitcoins decentralized directly from browser.

Metamask is a very good wallet. Metamask is currently gaining popularity. The number of users is also increasing day by day. But at the moment, I don't support it for storing bitcoin. Because hardware wallets are the best and most secure way to store bitcoin. On the other hand, I do not support Metamask because it is not time dependable. If the hardware is with a lot of time then many people will express the demand for saving bitcoin.

i see lot of people concern about their security but yes i would do too  Grin but this is great to begginer and newbie can start using this app for multiple dapp and easy integration for site owner. i mean yes you would still cold wallet for storing a lot of money.

but for daily transcation i would still using web/extension wallet because its easy to use and with this same model like this app can gain more people and also gain a competitor that drive with more security app right. (IMO)

I know many of us are not very enthusiastic about this news because MetaMask is a web wallet. But this can be another alternative place to keep our Bitcoin temporarily. We know MetaMask is a web wallet supported by varied networks of many types of coins or tokens. If MetaMask also supports Bitcoin, 1 MetaMask can be used to store all coins/tokens. As far as I know, MetaMask is only still not available to store Bitcoin.

Been using metamask for so long already and haven't encountered any problem. With their integration of bitcoin, I believe, they will attract more bitcoin users. Even if we say, storing the satoshis temporarily, still people would avail this kind of service. Metamask is already catering various networks, so yes, why not BTC itself? But for security purposes, still best to store long-term your bitcoin in your own wallet. But for immediate needs, I believe Metamask will serve its purpose.

The non-custodial wallet MetaMask, known more to fans of ETH and ERC-20 tokens, will add support for bitcoin in a Web3 application. They tweeted about it:

Implementation will be done through Snaps in a sandboxed environment.

Video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oxkmissJbiM
GitHub: https://github.com/KeystoneHQ/btcsnap

actually i'm curious, what will happen if that metamask do against the BTC network?  will this affect the previous wallet?  meaning we use 1 wallet for the ERC20 network, BNB, phantom and others, with the emergence of the BTC network.

More convenient for me especially most of the time when I am doing bitcoin transactions I am on my browser.
The only downside here is some phishing websites because this is what is common happening right now on Metamask, especially if a website platform have permission on your extension but I believe Metamask got some feature to avoid these, prone to hackers.
I hope there will be a lot of options especially import/export keys or to other wallets.

With the advent of an extension that also added bitcoin, it will certainly inspire hackers to create a fake extension, as appetites will increase.
In general, I do not trust all the extensions that inexperienced users usually hang like a Christmas tree, and even more so extensions that are related to finance.
In addition, many extensions take away the privacy of users, as they collect information on all possible browser fingerprints.

This is bad, we should be discouraging people from using any hot wallets for non-trivial amounts, but now there's a risk that lots of ETH fans would pick Metamask as their wallet of choice when they will deal with Bitcoin. Airgapped computer or a hardware wallet should be the default option for any beginner, it's critical that people begin their Bitcoin journey with good habits and will save them from catastrophic failures in the long run.

It's worth noting that it's still not available in the main MetaMask app, so you have to use MetaMask Flask instead [in other words, it could have some bugs]!

They should support hardware wallets though, because they do with Ethereum and other EVM chains.
Ledger at least I know.

The non-custodial wallet MetaMask, known more to fans of ETH and ERC-20 tokens, will add support for bitcoin in a Web3 application. They tweeted about it:

It would be nice if the wallet, when bitcoin support will be integrated, could immediately convert BTC to WBTC, to interact bitcoin with Ethereum blockchain, or at least change immediately in the wallet. Such an action would greatly simplify interaction with DeFi, farming, lending, borrowing, and other crypto activities. It would be a universal wallet, especially when paired with a hardware wallet.

Although so far I've never used a wallet extension like metamask in any browser, but I think it's a development that fans are hoping for. I'm still pretty safe using electrum because actually web wallet are a bit risky from online attacks, especially phishing. So it takes extra consideration when we want to use such a wallet to store bitcoin.

Still, I am a fan of hardware wallets though sometimes use Metamask for the token or use swap. It's quite easy to connect Metamask there. No doubt it's good if they start to support Bitcoin as well. For those who have been using Metamask, it will be better for them. For mobile devices, there are apps for Metamask which is better than extension. But still, I will prefer to use a hardware wallet to secure your funds. Don't depend on a browser extension to secure and store your funds.

Still having doubts about the decentralization issue over Metamask & Infura concerning the recent blocking of wallets among Venezuelan and Iranian users. And, one interesting thing is that there's an issue as well relating to both (Metamask & Infura) and that it needs a court review regarding the transfer of control to JP Morgan. They may have an explanation, but I still doubt until the audit is done.

Even though we haven't had such incident yet with Bitcoin(as far as I know, besides the recent Wasabi Wallet thing) — if you really want to be as ungovernable as possible, you should also be running(and connecting to) your own full node for your Bitcoin wallets.

I would like to use a wallet that is non custodial and on my computer only. Metamask is an extension and even it is non custodial, I feel it is less safer than non browser wallets like Bitcoin Core, Electrum, Wasabi. Of course, in the end, people have to keep their private keys or seeds safely.

This news, this adoption of MetaMask, their intention to join the party, expanding from ERC20 tokens to Bitcoin is very great for their income as well as for Bitcoin community. Anyway, let's use it with careful thinking and remember with whatever wallet, don't store all your coins in one wallet.

This is good news given the user demand for Metamask.
Web3 is closer to our daily needs, often to learn about a new product it is necessary to connect with a Wallet and there is MetaMask to be able to interact.
Of course everything will depend on the network that supports the site.
I am also a MetaMask user and interact with several networks for its comfort, security and versatility.
Now with bitcoin I would have to study very well how it works and test it.
This development indicates that bitcoin will be used more frequently in these times to come.

As much as I liked Metamask, it's a web wallet that is so vulnerable to phishing sites, hacks, etc. Although that it's a welcoming development for Metamask to include Bitcoin in their system, their security is still a major concern that left a lot of users getting hacked or their funds stolen from the methods of the smart hackers out there.

Very interesting. I still use MM almost on an entirely different level, it doesn't go near my Bitcoin, but I definitely could see some usefulness some time down the line especially as some services I use are already migrating to (d)apps. Does open yet another vulnerability for the typical user though.

Snaps is the one I've never heard of before. Anyone used?

They should support hardware wallets though, because they do with Ethereum and other EVM chains.

I have some security concern with browser extension wallet, but i hope it'll push some people to use non-custodial wallet instead. But looking at GitHub page, looks like it'll take some time before it's available for regular user.

It's technically non-custodial though? Just not as secure as your typical non-custodial wallet like Electrum because this is a browser extension.

They should support hardware wallets though, because they do with Ethereum and other EVM chains.

A welcoming development.

I guess metamask has already seen that they can maximize their users by having the support of having bitcoin as well. Still, no doubt with their niche and focus, they've been very well at it.

But with this new development and feature that they'll have. It's going to go through a lot of criticisms first but with the innovation that the whole crypto market goes on, everything have to adopt and upgrade.
