I can't imagine how hard it is, I mean it's one of the most difficult moderating responsibilities. He wasn't incompetent, nobody can moderate such a board without bias, but I'm sure with this new mod, we will see discussions slowly change direction towards a set of handpicked topics, where certain members would do and say whatever they like and the rest wouldn't even go there to discuss anything except the unsuspected newbies. Then you will see something more like a private club. Then it would be too late to realize you have led by a wrong example.


Lol, I have nothing against mods, this one was new for me, in all these years I have never seen a mod remove a thread when a topic is active and the last post is somewhat not a one liner spam, and when a few high ranks posted there, because they know better to not post in "off topic" and low value threads.  IMO you can never keep everyone happy no matter what, there is always someone unhappy.

The function of moderator is to correct and fix things that are not meant to be in a place were it shouldn't be.. So saying he biased is something not too cool with me, though I know not everyone is correct but at this post I don't see any efforts on it to be left there as something worth discussing on, It doesn't give any direction rather it would creates a spamming replies or a kind of repetition of comments.

Flying Hellfish was a buddy of mine (until he vanished), & we spoke about his moderation a good deal. Yes, he’s a liberal, but he didn’t delete posts because he didn’t agree with the politics (conservative stuff), he did because of stuff like “low value” of kinda “off topic”.  He would tell me how stressful it was dealing with people making false accusations about being biased.  I knew him well enough to know he legitimately was just trying to do what he felt Theymos would want out of a mod/what was best. People are too quick cry wolf too.

Give the new mod some time, there’s a learning curve. And have some compassion, imagine having to read BADeckers posts daily.

I am not sure what the OP is intending to achieve with what seems to be drawing even more unnecessary attention to himself. What does it matter that your post was on-topic if the whole topic is for trash? Anyway, since you said that you are getting warm for discussion on a few subjects, why not start new topics?

That is literally what a moderator does. You should let Xaolex do their job without this much drama so early on.
You're complaining about a thread being deleted and still complaining about the mod using a different approach to get users to stop going off topic and explaining why some earlier posts will be deleted.

The are the mod, and interprete cases based on their understanding of the rules. The fact that you disagree with that does not make them wrong.

Since when do moderators need to make their own rules to remove offtopic from profile topics?  Offtopic is forbidden by the forum rules (point 2). And the morality police had absolutely nothing to do with it, they were breaking the forum rules.

Further, I did not threaten anyone, but warned these users to stop off-topic, going to personalities with mutual insults. Insults are not prohibited by the forum rules if they are present in thematic posts. But if there is just mutual insults that have nothing to do with the topic, then such posts should be deleted.

Have you read these posts? No? Then I will show you some of them.

What topic are we talking about? Ah, about this topic. I got a report from a user that this topic has a low value. I agreed with that report and moved the topic to Trashcan. The topic is really about nothing. By the way, exactly your post in this thread is an offtopic that has nothing to do with the subject of the topic.
