Yeah, I'm aware I was only kidding with a bit of Human Rights drama. The only hardware that it's sole porpuse is to be used for the forum would be the server; in case theymos has one at home/bunker/safe location. I don't think anyone buys a phone/desktop/laptop just to access BTT, so we are going a bit off-topic if we start taking into account the electricity/carbon fingerprint (I believe it's said that way in English?) that users spend while accessing the forum Don't forget that many users only access the forum from their mobile phones, which puts some kind of electricity consumption balance I guess.
It will be interesting to see some statistics how many people read the forum from their mobile devices. I know theymos will not keep such information but.. I'm mostly on mobile, during working hours I'm using TOR

I understand your point but I don't think people buy electronics with the sole purpose to read the bitcointalk (actually some bounty/signature campaign abusers maybe doing it, but don't think this is on that big scale to be considered). Here we discuss only forum related aspects of efficiency/consumption.

Only theymos can answer this question. But I doubt that Bitcointalk can be called as eco friendly website. And it's not a problem, because this forum isn't using that much resources probably that we would need to worry. It's not something like amounts of electricity used for Bitcoin mining in total. For example, Bitcoin mining consume more electricity per year more than Denmark. But good thing that most of Bitcoin miners using renewable sources of electricity.

Managing your own hardware and constantly updating security features is hardly a useful expenditure of time, and financially it's almost a wash. Contributing to Jeff Bezos' wealth really is the best way to go.

I guess you're asking if the servers are run on a renewable energy right? Probably not, and pretty sure that the servers impact on the environment is very little, and we should probably be more worried about the cow farting all day along! Theymos hosts the servers I believe, but I doubt its through renewable energy.
