The amount of effort (or lack-there-of) of this scam attempt was pretty amazing.
Then the amount of people who researched more into the account finding out anomalies was cool.
I guess the point of this story, is don't believe a sob story and check your facts....
Heck, i know I would have lent him the money if these anomalies wern't uncovered...
This hacker definitely didn't get his facts straight - cold in Texas in July? Now there's a good one. It's usually no "cooler" than 80F down here.
The sad part is that he has likely gotten victims with exactly that story because he tried it again here.
The lesson learned for me is to keep better tabs on forum accounts even if I am not active too much on those forums. The mere existence of the account does imply a minimum level of responsibility to know what's going on.
Above all, I'm just glad that there are so many seasoned scam busters lurking in the forums here. The bar is definitely up there for the kinds of stories these clowns have to put out in order to get someone.
