isn't Satoshi Japanese as well?  Cheesy
This is actually unlikely, it is more probable that he is European due to a very good knowledge of the English language, the usage of British English spellings, and a couple other things I can't recall at the moment but a Google would probably get you there.

That doesn't mean anything. There are millions of A+ Chinese students who write perfect British English online. I've done business & talked with plenty of them on forums. Their word usage, grammar and spelling is top notch.

You could never tell they are Chinese unless they used nicknames indicating their place of origin.

I don't see how that's any different for Japan or any other country. English is my 3rd language but I'm 100% fluent in it, maybe more so than in my native language which I've already forgotten partially.

I just had to put in my penny's worth....

One thing you can count on, if someone's English is excellent, they are probably not English Smiley

It's different for Japan, at least for most people.  Some parents send their children to after school classes for English with a native English teacher, but nearly every Japanese student attends publicly funded schools, which are prohibited from hiring foreign nationals as teachers due to union rules.  The result being that a Japanese born native speaker of English is a rare teacher, and one who is in very high demand; while the vast majority of English students (which is all children in public schools in Japan) get a teacher who's native language is Japanese.  This causes distortions in the grammer that is detectable by native English speakers that is commonly called "Japlish".  Although they can be understood, they are also easily identified.  It really is different for native Chinese.

Ever considered that most schools teach british english? Also being "good at english" doesn't mean that guy is from anywhere. I'v heard indian people speaking perfect english too...

@topic, I seriously hope they reconfirm all the accounts before Gox opens again. filed my account claim as soon as it was possible, still haven't heard from them, the email I sent them is still unanswered.

They are local to Japan.  Why would they have to be concerned about when you are awake?
Seriously, how many Japanese bitcoin traders are there? any estimate?
Japanese language subforum doesn't even exist here.

They should have set that to a time when more people are up and about. Worldwide, that is.

Yea. Strange. Why on earth would a Japanese business start trading at 9am in Japan?

TSE opens at 9:00 AM in Japan, which would be around 5:00 PM here. One market closes, the other opens.

(had to double check, lol)

Also it's Friday night, which means that for some it's easier to do because no work in the morning, but for others there are parties or drinking or whatever they want to do... maybe if they get drunk enough before trying to trade *evil laugh*

Midnight EST in New York, but if people have funds frozen that they really care about and want to trade or whatever, I'm sure they can stay up the extra few hours. Still weird that Mt. Gox is making it only one hour, because of course there are time zones where it's hugely inconvenient.

It's 12 AM EST, which is late for some I guess, but most nerds go to bed around 12 AM most nights anyway

Not that bad ~9pm on the West Coast USA (I think)

Ah, that's not so bad. For some reason I thought that time would have been an unsociable time for the USA.
