Yes.

It is 2 orders of magnitude above current price.

If the exponential rise is a fact, then would take 4 years until 100k USD(price in the start of 2013 was around $10)

you can see, with bitcoin price under 2000 dollar, sending transaction confirmation is very long time
sending fee incraese very high, so if bitcoin price incraese to 100k dollar, i think all people not sending bitcoin again because sending fee is very high

Its not unlikely to happen but this could take a few years, and also the need of ending the blocksize debate. Bitcoin was once worth a few cents, look at it now, I believe It's safe to say that nothing is impossible at this point.

There will be a time where people will say, i wish i bought when it was 100k$.  Cool

There are already so little people aware of bitcoin's existence. Bitcoin's market cap is around 30Billion$ right now. Tesla is 51B$. Facebook is 427B$. Can you see how much we can expand?

Being able to stay out of banks' reach, being able carry all of your wealth in a usb stick/on a piece of paper, being able purchase stuff without needing any assistance of a bank... This shit is serious.

It is far from being serious at this price levels but when it becomes serious even Countries/Banks may collapse. Will the governments take action before it happens? We'll live and see.

I think it is possible and that's all I have to say right now.

Possibility is yes even for low chances. But right now, I think it's too much if we are just to speculate desire price like that. For now, let's cross first the $10,000 value or much realistic on $5,000.

I just wondered, how much USD value must be injected to the market for price like that to happen. No word I think can described the huge amount needed for that pump.

Honestly that could happen easily.

What if USD loses it's hegemony and hyperinflates? It's inflation rate has increased constantly over the last 100+ years. it takes almost $25 USD today to equal $1 USD from 1913, when the (not)Federal Reserve was created.

Even if we assume it will happen the chances for any of us to see it happen are very remote, if you wanted to write 10000 usd I think it can in the coming years, but 100000 what are you smoking, and shift it to speculation board. Also would like to know how did you come to this magical figure of 1,00,000 is there some logic or just a random number that came to your mind?

we're talking about 50x current value not science fiction

It has the chances of reaching higher value similar to the one quoted. I was said that more the investment into bitcoin as well more the people start using bitcoin more will be the increase in the price. So if the entire population accept bitcoin we might experience the price.

I really don't think so. But I'd love for that to happen, like every other bitcoin user and owner of even a few satoshis.
But that would really be quite insane, imagine a regualr guy having like a couple of hundred bitcoin at that moment... he'd go nuts.

It would be quite worrisome, because there are a few doubtful characters around which have several hundreds of thousands of bitcoin or even a few million.  They could finance quite some "dark" activities I would think.  Buying up governments around the world, organizing wars between nations and profit from the arms sales, developing biological weapons and bribing the world to buy its anti dote.... so many things one could do with such invisible fortunes.

It is possible only if they is a constant increase in involvement from outside of the community as it stands, and more people globally have to start getting involved for it to be something that can be considered as viable prediction.
There are some scenarios where Bitcoin can be valued that high, but most of them require Bitcoin becoming close to a part of the fiat system and having different groups like ETFs or mutual funds involved in the market, among other organization.

This should be in the Speculation child board.

Firstly, everything can happen starting from now. 6 years ago, btc was trading at roughly $1-$30 each, and given the current price today, that is a roughly 640% increase in the course of 5 years, and we haven't seen any mass adoption wih that, just investors doing their thing and getting a fair share of the market. 5 years from now, we might be seeing some massive adoption from key economic parts of the globe and bitcoin would play a large role for their needs wih that. Fomo, together with investors playing around would make hundred grand possible, but probably not within the next decade or so.

My idea is that it is quite impossible that there is a "steady growth" during many years.  That would be too easy money to make for institutional players.   If you have an asset on the speculator's market that has a steady, predictable rise of tens of % per year, all financial institutions would directly jump onto it.  So it can't go in a smoothly rising curve.  It must go with a bang, or a few bangs.  Otherwise this would be the biggest violation of the efficient market hypothesis ever.

This is just a wild guess, but there are good chances: bitcoin is more and more acting as the settlement layer for the IOU between exchanges, which are the clearing houses of a new type of speculative asset, the Joe Sixpack crypto version of the complex derivatives that were reserved to financial institutions (and were the origin of the 2007 financial crisis).   I'm not even talking about alt coins, I'm talking about their exchange IOU, which is the stuff people are gambling on.  Bitcoin, apart from being itself one of those bigger gamblers' assets, also serves as settlement layer between the clearing houses.
Given the huge amount of virtual value that was put into the complex derivatives, if the whole crypto speculation industry takes example of that, its settling layer must take a huge market cap.  For the moment, that's still bitcoin.

I'm cashing out around $500 000.- so for sure, I hope $ 100 000.- is for the near future.
