The trade was for 20btc on a low volume market. If I traded 10btc to a friend for $3/btc would that count as the price hitting $3?

I think it would, if you can convince us that this trade really happened and that you and your friend didn't fake it.

I don't think it would: I gave a friend 1 BTC for nothing, so bitcoins are officially worthless?

I probably shouldn't joke about trying to manipulate the market. It was really obviously a joke to me (I'd only sold 4 BTC, I wound up losing 0.50), but nobody could have known I didn't really have anything to lose, and there are other people on here who are really serious about manipulating the market.
