Just for the sake of discussion, and going for the interpretation that many have made on this thread (1M$ in BTC, not 1M BTC), according to the article referenced down below, there are around 100K BTC addresses with a BTC equivalent greater or equal to 1M$.

Of course this is all an n:m:[p] game (n addresses belong to m people - and are grouped behind p wallets), so there’s no way of telling how many people really have an equivalent of 1M$ in BTC, but it gives us a playing field play with.

See: https://bitcoinmagazine.com/markets/bitcoin-wallets-with-more-than-1-million
The article references the source of the image, which leads to a site where, at first sight, I can’t seem to find it. I’ve seen the same site referenced on another article with similar information, but still pointing to a chart which differs from that of the image.

Having 1M BTC in one single wallet (n enclosed addresses therefore) would be equivalent to currently owning 5,35% of all existing bitcoins to date (some 18,7M). [...]
It is quite possible that either Jeff Bezos or Elon Musk is hiding behind the nickname Newlifebtc, since no average statistical millionaire (or any ordinary person) will think that 5% ($ 60 billion .. lol) of all existing bitcoins is a small amount. As for Satoshi's million BTC, in addition to pooya87's rather reasonable answer [there is a difference between "wallet" and "address" in bitcoin], I also came across one rather logical assumption.

The main assumption is that everytime he debugged his client and updated it, it created a new wallets/files and be didnt back up the previous
take this quote that shows early versions needed backing up entire folders, (imagine backing up a folder every time you edited a line of code).
4. What files need to be backed up for not losing my "money"?
Version 0.1.5: backup the whole %appdata%\Bitcoin directory.
Version 0.2: you can backup just wallet.dat.
It was just a experiment back then so there was no value in keeping the private keys ... assumptions were that after a few months of bug fixing everything would be reset and born again (but too many joind and it instead just continued to live and it wasnt until 2010 before h made it simple to backup).

To me 1million btc is not too much or surprising to be talked about ,people have more than that <…>
You know we’re talking about bitcoin on this thread, not altcoin right? Having 1M BTC in one single wallet (n enclosed addresses therefore) would be equivalent to currently owning 5,35% of all existing bitcoins to date (some 18,7M). People have more than that .. really?

Note that the context of the OP talks about 1M BTCs, not an equivalent to 1M$ in BTC -> 17.52 BTCs currently, which is probably your interpretation here, and which does have multiple existing cases.

My bad. Cheesy
Thanks for correcting me.
It was a bare recall for me, so I still expected a correction.
It is still nice addition though since it was something mentioned in the news, although it is a bit off. Smiley

There is some news that says that satoshi has one million BTC wallet. This is because satoshi is the person who created bitcoin, but we don't know the truth of the news. Even if it's true, I think that either Satoshi or anyone else who has a million BTC wallet will definitely keep their Bitcoin in some of his wallet.

I believe the Op wanted to just start up this form of argument about a wallet holding 1 million Bitcoin and we know that this king of information is really not hidden in the blockchain and could have been verified by him if he wanted to as others have gone to point out or he could just be referring to holding up to 1 million Bitcoin in a sting of wallet address in one wallet  Huh

I kind of recall someone transferring millions worth of BTC that was stuck on a wallet for quite some time.
It is being discussed back then on who could it be because of the insane amount.
Found it in here: https://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2020/11/someone-has-withdrawn-1-billion-from-a-bitcoin-wallet-dormant-since-2015/
Not sure if this is really the one that I recall, but there's something along the lines of "unknown trader".

You didn't pay attention to what's discussed here. The discussion is about 1 million BTC, not 1 million dollar.
So "your" less than 70000 BTC is far from the "target". Already the "rich lists" found on the internet post 34xp4vRoCGJym3xR7yCVPFHoCNxv4Twseo as having more than 200000 BTC on it, which is still far from 1 million.

Not everybody feel it necessary to brag about how many coins he has.
[...]
And an example I've seen lately is Coinbase, for which the cold wallet addresses are not easy to find out, but they had not long ago 994904BTC.
I suppose it's not even about bragging, but about security, because if there is at least one braggart among the bitcoin billionaires, then in the news we will see headlines in the spirit of "robbery of the century." Why steal art or rob banks when you can buy both with bitcoins ... I'm not surprised at all, but I want to add that Coinbase has about $ 300 billion in cold storage in cryptocurrency (only 2% of this amount is outside the cold storage).

Is it an assumption or what? you don't even put some link or source for this idea but this thing is possible as cryptocurrency is very anonymous and for sure those who are holding a huge amount of bitcoin. are just making it private, maybe Satoshi Nakamoto is the one who is holding the highest amount of bitcoin, this is quite possible as he is the one who made it.

If there are other people that have a million of bitcoin then we should've known about it.

Bitcoin's pseudo-anonymity allows entities hide their wealth if they want to. Not everybody feel it necessary to brag about how many coins he has.
And an example I've seen lately is Coinbase, for which the cold wallet addresses are not easy to find out, but they had not long ago 994904BTC.
I know that it's not the best example, since it's not their money, but it's an example that shows that this can be done rather easy.

The rumors say it is that of Satoshi which has kept for himself 1 million Bitcoins in different wallets. We will never come to know because we still don't even know if Satoshi is a person,a entity or a government.
That is right. We do not know who is the owner of that wallet and we do not even know if that is Satoshi. We can only see if that wallet has a large amount of bitcoin, but to search for the owner's owner, I guess that will not easy.

I never want to know who the wallet owner has a big amount of bitcoin because that is not important to me. Besides that, the owner will not reveal himself to the public, especially when the bitcoin price reaches $54k.

I do not believe there's a single wallet that holds 1 million btc. Like many already pointed out, the highest amount of btc a wallet has ever held is 143k btc. However, it is possible that one person holds even more than a million units of btc by storing them in multiple wallets.
You should also know that only person or people that could have that huge amount of btc would be either Satoshi himself or very adopters of bitcoin. As the current price of bitcoin, it's way to expensive to buy that huge amount of btc.

You are wrong and you have a lot to learn. A wallet can contain any number of addresses.
So it can happen that some entity has that many coins, even if it's not Satoshi. If you would have read a few more posts before posting, you'd already know this much.
If there are other people that have a million of bitcoin then we should've known about it. I know the part about the wallet but one wallet containing many addresses means that if the wallet is compromised then so is the addresses inside it.

There is no 1 million Bitcoin wallet but there is someone that has a 1 million bitcoin and that is satoshi, only satoshi has that and I don't think that satoshi will put all of it in just one wallet, that's a one strike one kill for satoshi if he forgot that one wallet.
