I just jinxed myself. One of the power supplies just died for the Rosewill 10-Port hub. I only had 8 miners plugged into it. It died in less than 8 hours. Sad

Almost 24 hour stress test and still working just fine. These $14.99 hubs handle 4 usb asics.

I think I would still recommend getting the Rosewill if you have the extra $10 since they can handle 10 usb asics out of the box. Only $25.99 in my bitmit store.

Just got my Rosewill hubs. I'm running 8 on each. I tried 10 miners but it was a no go. I can do 8 with a fan and 9 with an external fan.

Erm, just to clarify, the 4A and 8A adapter cost 17-26USD itself and it's sold separately.

I personally did a test on stock BE. If running on 1 stock BE on a laptop, it uses 90mA. When I load the 2nd stock BE, it becomes 240mA. So it takes about 150mA for a stock BE that is in mining state. A USB 3.0 port will not power more than 1 OCBE (to 448MHz, and i havent try stock BE).

The next thing I wanna try is to use switching power supply 5V 60A to power 3 of these hubs. and see what happen lol (hopefully no explosion)

Back to topic, this hub sells 15SGD cheapest here. Yours is 3SGD more but with delivery. But when I need it, it really means i needs it now. haha.

Does the hub work at all if you plug it into the host port without using the wall-wart power adapter?

Some of these hubs will steal some host port power and supplement it with the wall-wart supply. You can tell yours is like this if it functions at all without the wall-wart. That would explain why it runs 4, kinda...

I havnt tried that yet personally but I believe it allows you to run it without the power supply. You are probably right about it robbing some power from the usb port.

Has anyone made adapters to run hubs off of an old computer power supply? Like 12v to 5v converters. I know you can take 5v right off of a computer psu but I'm thinking of ways to hook these hubs up to my Litecoin mining rigs without chopping wires. lol

Something like this. (12v - 5v3a 15w dc/dc converter)
http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/1265119511/DC_DC_Converter_12V_Step_down.html

I can sell those for between $10-12 depending on what supplier I go through. If anyone has an interest in them please let me know.

The one I ordered for myself came in today.

The psu says 1,000ma which is 1amp, yet its running 4 usb asics just beautifully, I haven't tried 5+ yet as I have the rest hooked up in my Old Trunk rig, I'll stress test it for the next 12 hours or so with 4 then add another one and see how it does.

Ok, just tried 5 and no, 5 on the stock power adapter is a no go. lol

It does 4 just fine, I will update this thread if I notice any issues during burn in.

$14.99 is still good for a hub that will run 4 usb asics stock. It just needs a $8-10 upgrade to a bigger psu to handle more usb asics as ElitePork demonstrated earlier in this thread.

Yup. I did not buy any from you. I got the USB hub from a local electronic store and "sometimes" it comes with 1A adapter. Sometimes it doesn't.

The store that sells the 4A adapter "BS" me saying I turn it on 24/7. Saying it's not supported to use 24/7. Lucky it's a lady or i'm gonna give her a piece of my mind.
So I asked for a higher amp adapter and they gave me 8A.
Plug in 7 OCBE and the DC connector melted.

Final form,

Though I have some re-arrangement with the BEs. But all 4 hubs are running with 8A 5V adapters

Its good to know that I was right about using a beefier power supply. Smiley
I'm sorry to hear that you melted one, I'm betting that hub had a dead short inside.

how does the adapter melt? There would have to be a dead short for that to happen and then I'm amazed you didn't just trip the power strip b4 it melted.

Just to be clear, you haven't ordered anything from me. None of the $14.99 hubs have even been delivered yet. lol

Tried 4A adapter with them and the adapter melted. 4A adapter cost about 17.5 USD

Then I got 8A adapter to use with them and the DC connector on the USB hub melted... 8A adapter cost about 26.20 USD

And I agree, Anker makes some of the best usb hubs.

If anyone buys an Anker hub from me please be aware that it will not ship out until October 3rd. It comes with Free Shipping but it is 3-5 days instead of 2 days.

You're right. I was thinking the RHB-500 only had 3 amps for some reason. Anyways, I will probably buy a few RHB-500s from you. Where are they being shipped from? Shipped via Priority Mail?

It varies, but its always 2 days, on very rare occasions 3 days. If you order before Sunday night it should be there by the 2nd. If you order in the next couple hours maybe even the 1st.

deleted. nvm

It looks like the RHB-500 has a 4amp psu while the RHB-520 has a 3.5a psu. If you have already been running the RHB-500 i would continue with that model.
