Hi good day! For me , any coin will do. Any coins have different feature. Just make sure to first do your background research on that coin. Please also view its whitepaper for its upcoming events. And also. please care to check the team members of that coin your investing for. 
Try Banca, read the roadmap and whitepaper first but I invested on it already I bought 2m Banca at 7 sats in the past and now its playing at 9-11 sats. They have a solid team and solid project and they always follow there roadmaps schedule. You can buy Banca at Hitbtc it is the only exchange for now but they will soon add some more. Goodluck.
XMR is my favorite coin, XMR has an absolute advantage in the anonymous world, and a XVG has a great potential. The XVG community is very dynamic. It is especially good for the development of a project. XVG is a future coin, and more importantly, its current price is not very low.

It might be possible for ICOs though. If there are tokens worth $10 or 0.01ETH for a thousand or more since you can purchase some tokens during pre sale and they do give out token bonuses too for early birds. But be aware and research as some ICOs doesn't even go out of the market. Choose wisely for a good ICO that has a strong development team before investing.

Another noobie looking to invest in a coin that is "cheap"

Just because something has a cheap price doesn't mean it has a lot of potential to grow.
The most important things to consider on whether or not a coin has potential are:
Marketcap
Amoun of circulating coins
How mature the project is
The tech behind it
It's competition
It's trade history
and then, probably, look at the price.
I see a lot of cheap coins pump on exchanges lately, I imagine a lot of new investors are trying to "get in early on the next bitcoin"
This is going to burn a lot of people and give crypto a bad rep, which isn't good for the market at all.

If a coin is 10 sat it either means it has a huge (maybe even an unlimited) supply, or that it's just a shitcoin.

You can also try to invest in other altcoins. You'll never know, maybe your bright future lies in the hand of other altcoins.
Both but don't save too much. Try to invest in some other coins as well as Neo, Edgeless, Omesego and many more. But as long as your satoshi's has value, just hold it.
I found the most coins with value 10 Satoshi and below on cryptopia yobit and novaexchange. But I had no luck on these coins. They suffered mostly or I dumped them to early. But cryptopia has a nice feature. There is a site with infos about each coin. I will use it for the future.

why not just ether ? or any other crypto who sit on first 10 at coinmarketcap rank ? i mean its a crypto train you still can have 1grand in ether and its just same like have 1grand worth of bytecoin, except the price of ether will increase rapidly
i think very low value coins have a better chance to increase 10x + rather than ETH/BTC at current price
