Somebody posted this artwork on reddit as an homage to Finney.

Repurposed credit cards sit atop a used bank safety deposit box.

Inside is a customized Casa Node allowing you to "run bitcoin.”

Embedded is Hal's signed card given to me by his wife Fran.

The WiFi-enabled node is adhered to only run when paired w/ the art.

The work is up for auction, 10 years after his famous tweet.

50% of the proceeds will go to the ALS Association Golden West Chapter who supported Hal during his battle w/ Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis.

A limited-edition of 100 signed and numbered prints on aqueous pigment fine art, semi-gloss archival rag are available here.

A heartfelt thank you to the Casa Inc. team for collaborating, to Fran, and of course to Hal for his important contributions in a space that means so much to so many of us. RIP

Can't believe it's been 10 years since that tweet. Time really flies when you're having fun [with Bitcoin].
I really hope that at some point in the future, we'll be able to bring cryogenically frozen people back.

Imagine a hundred years from now, people would be able to bring Hal back.

For those who don't know what I'm talking about:

Indeed. It would be awesome to bring Hal back and let him know he’s a billionaire legend. I’m sure it’ll be possible someday.

Assuming someone keep his encrypted wallet and he didn't reuse his bitcoin address (which make his bitcoin vulnerable against quantum computer since it's public key is revealed) Grin

we are talking about a cryptography expert/god not some random dude who knew a thing or two. in fact some people even theorize that Hal Finney is the Satoshi Nakamoto. and someone like that has surely been using bitcoin the "correct way".

Let's see then. I personally will remember him, probably for the rest of my life. I admire him and want to be a coder like him. Still, at this moment really struggled with Javascript and economy. Hopefully next year will be better.

It is an independent and creative person, a pioneer who is able to introduce bitcoin well. Satoshi has helped him and until now bitcoin has value and continues to grow. We thank him for his struggle and opened the world to the benefits of bitcoin.

I'm sure I read a few months ago that since then the CIA has been covering the expenses for his body storage. (and I'm sure because I was wondering what's in it for the CIA) Can't find the article currently

I hadn’t heard that before. I’d need to see a source on that one to believe it.

I admire Hal! While reading his story on Bitcoin and me (Hal Finney). He did great though he's struggling with his condition.

His contribution to the community and as a pioneer was worth it. If he's just alive right now, I wonder what he'll say when he see on how big the community is now. Thank you very much Hal.

An interview to his children would be a good content.

Also assuming that fiat currencies are still in existence at the time you can bring him back. If BTC becomes the world currency there can never be another billonaire. Unless Satoshi's become the commonly accepted figure.

This guy was courageous, even paralyzed he continued to code. Thanks for his contribution. Seeing how the technology progress who knows if Hal will come back.

10 years ago Hal Finney exclaimed that he was "Running bitcoin" and would later go on to receive the first bitcoin transaction.  Thanks Hal!  Truly a legend.

That is truly an epic tweet; Halfin was a real Bitcoin pioneer, we can thank him and other early adopters for where bitcoin are now, apparently  the day after that tweet he mentioned that one Bitcoin cut end up with a price of 10 million dollars.

https://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/msg10152.html

“As an amusing thought experiment, imagine that Bitcoin is successful and
becomes the dominant payment system in use throughout the world.  Then the
total value of the currency should be equal to the total value of all
the wealth in the world. Current estimates of total worldwide household
wealth that I have found range from $100 trillion to $300 trillion. With
20 million coins, that gives each coin a value of about $10 million.”
