100% fan is never good on any gpu, less 85% for green, 86% to 94% for orange and more than 95% for red, anything after that is dangerous territory, yeah could always replace the fan, memory on the other side could be less than 85c for green and 85c to 95 to orange and more than 95 for red, core temperature, less than 70c for green, 71c to 75c for orange and more than 76c for red, keep those values in check for 24/7 and you should be good.

After I have changed the thermal pads on my 2 3080 I have been mining eth with them when I'm not using them for deep learning or gaming, right now on eth memory temperature is 76c, fan at 85%,before thermal pads was, memory temperature 110c and 100% fan when testing eth, i was not crazy to mine eth or use memory intensive programs with such temperatures and I took the time to change thermal pads, must never change thermal pads fast, 3 months at least then replace thermal pads.

here are my settings overclocking my FHR 3080, however the fan speed is usually at  90-100%, is that ok for the fan on the long run ?

is it ok to keep fan on auto for 24x7 mining ?

http://grabilla.com/0bb1c-efa0c082-36cf-4b04-8dab-19f42d3bb499.png

also is it ok to maintain 108c for memory temp to mine 24x7 or what temp to maintain for 24x7 mining ?...

I put pads, heatsink and fan on the back and it dropped the temps by 10c

btw i finally figured it out
i had some of the old thermal pads still used for some of the memory modules because i ran out of pads, ordered more pads (certainly one pad sheet is not enough) and now have ALL memory modules covered both FRONT AND BACK, i saw temps drop down to 76c on memory modules and couldnt believe my eyes for quite sometime till i was finally convinced those are real results ! so if u r still seeing temps at 90+c then you should know you didnt replace the pads correctly, i even used 2mm+1mm for BACK thermal pads (ignore that nonsense saying DO NOT do it and air will get trapped BS) as you can see i did that and used a premium thermal pads (thermal right) and i couldnt be more happy with my temps !!!!!!! 76c down from 106c !!!!!!

plz do this with caution it took me almost 45minutes for this job and dont rush it and avoid electrostatics by continuously touching a metal thing next to u to periodically remove any electrostatics from your body, or wear a electrostatic wrist in your hand to avoid bricking your card and place your card on a NON CONDUCTIVE matt or something...

i can confirm for my gigabyte aorus master 3080 i needed 2mm front and 3mm back nothing more nothing less !!..... and now am getting 80 c temp @ 80% fan only while overclocked to 1300 MHz and 63% power limit @ 100mhs for ETH !!!

The correct settings everyone else is using with this card are as follows:

Power limit : 75% 230 watt
Core clock : -200
Memory clock : +1200 max but even +1000 works ok just a few Mhsh less should be 95-96 Mhsh

These are windows settings, for Linux are the same just make sure you double the memory clock as in Linux that works differently. You should have a memory temp of 95 max by these settings.Just don't leave the card at the default settings as running 108 degree for an extended amount of time will make sure your card life span is less than what you expect.

Here is my setting, it is easily reach 103+ Mhs, mem temperature is 100C, fan speed 75%

https://photos.google.com/photo/AF1QipPcNfn6kqjbZJWug64f9xG0gahuKyQvbxZeQRTI

Everyone is saying to me 100c is not safe for 24x7 mining
Am at 95c 100% fan and really worried
Ordered a few pads they should arrive soon
Gigabyte (since ever) is trash if u read newegg reviews on their liquid cooled cards even those got crappy pads and do thermal throttle, best IMO are Zotac and EVGA.

Honestly I will never buy 3080 GPUs for mining cos watching them mine away with mem temp over 100°C is scary for a costly GPU, my finally stop is on 3070s and that's final, I'd rather go for A5000 If higher end mining GPUs is my aim
These video cards are not used in an open case with standard cooling.
For them, you need to buy a closed case, and if possible, install additional cooling on the back of the video card and mine coins.
The same is done with the RTX 3090.
But if you do not want these problems, then it is better to buy the 3060/3070 series

They r In an open case in my apartment and cracking the windows open and it’s 1c outside !! Also fans are there but not helping, I ordered some thermal pads they r poorly designed !…

To all those using 3090s for mining after couples of months now at high temperatures do you have any complaining about the cards? The truth is I haven't seen a dead 3090 from miners before but I've seen two from gamers, I think GPUs like 3080/3090 needs better cooling is all

wth keeping 108c memory lol  Grin that vram wont lasting enough till waranty dead, and the sign of burned will showing under bare eyes,

its should be fine running fan at 90-100 all the time, some fan maybe dead arround 2-4years in my experience, how that possible memory run at 108c  Cheesy

The high fan speed is not the problem, the heat causing the high speed is.
You need to improve heat dissipation and make some noise with large fans.
Or detune the GPU and lose performance.

he is not getting performance he is simply killing his gpu.

at op

lower the memory clock

lower the power setting

get the 108c to drop under 99c

work at that and get back to us.

Set the power to 225 or 230 not 250

set the ram to 1000 not 1300

see what happens

also sorry i didnt want to open multiple threads,
this is my other rig running a 1200w sea sonic PSU
how are my settings looking ?? and can we go higher on those cards or not ?...
http://grabilla.com/0bb1d-160323f9-8e38-4ca7-b06d-b2f37d6a27ef.png

you have 61mh on every card your watts are set around 130 that is pretty good.

you could lower watts by 5 on each card and see if you stay at 61 mh.

i do not see the ram settings

sometimes they fail after a day of mining and revert back to stock clocks, even when i was doing just 60mhs Sad what reasons for that besides ram heating up ??

i noted here:
http://grabilla.com/0bb1d-160323f9-8e38-4ca7-b06d-b2f37d6a27ef.png

its 1300 for all cards, is it safe ?

now trying to see if it is stable...

note: i am on nicehash and i noticed when nice hash decides to mine on octopus (guess CFX) the 230 power limit for the 3080 is really insufficient giving me just 70 mhashes, how to go about that since nicehash decides automatically what ALGO to mine  Huh Huh Huh

thanks,

your ram is overclocked and over heats. this means shorter life.

when you do nicehash you can do only eth with proper benchmark settings.

are we doing ok now ?

what is a safe VRAM temp for 24x7 mining on the 3080 ?

Hypothetical question: can i increase to 1300 **STABLY** if the temps were in the safe VRAM temps for my 3080 ?

am going on a 3 months vacation and keeping the rigs run 24x7, is it safe to keep at 100% fan speed ?...

many thanks indeed,,,,

those numbers are better.

safer. try manually setting gpu fans to 90%

and try adding a  plug into the wall box fan to the mix.

all in the name of keeping gear long lasting and cool.

that 98 ram number is much safer than 104 to 110

r those normal results for a 3080 ??
i mean am at 666 for the mem and 59% power limit and my apartment is freezing cold in winter seriously i can get less than 95c~ AVG and 94 mhs max ! is 94c feasible for long term mining ??...

My fans on the video card is always above 70% because I save them. If you do not have enough of them, it is better to send a simple household fan to the farm. I've been doing that since 2017.

Also in RTX 3060 ti the same settings apply

Power 120 watt or 60%
Core clock -200 Mhz
Memory clock +1200 max but I keep it at 1000 Mhz for 60 Mhsh.

These are the correct settings for the 3060 ti and I have one of them so I can also say from personal experience that these settings are the best. Also the Ctemp should never be above 70 and I see you have one at 71 so you should check the settings of that specific card.My card has a really low temp below 50 degrees so you should check on that.
