I love that Bitcoin has memes now. We have the 10kBTC pizza, and we have the alpaca socks... our own little cryptocurrency counterculture...

carrots too
I see this joke about carrots everywhere, can someone please explain it or link me some thread?

Carrots were on the pizza. It was a carrot pizza.

(Note that's my attempt at combining hand-me-down tales and re-writing history)

I sold 15,000 BTC for about $45, and I've bought at around that price, too. It really was worthless a year or so ago.

It was surprising when the price reached $0.01 -- I had been trading at below a cent for some time.

theymos,

why didn't u call me? Angry

If you know you can buy pizza with bitcoin any time you want you can convert your pizza money to bitcoins and not have to worry about how long it takes to turn them back into dollars if you want a pizza.  Grin

I think the offer has been closed now.

Rather, at the time, he said it was a standing offer.  And yes, he has since rescinded this.

I'll go out on a limb and say that anyone wouldn't trade their life's savings for a pizza.  So if he offered 10,000, I'm sure he had 50,000 or more on hand.

I know, and he offered to do it any time. Wink  I was being snarky.

I say it's time: 10,000 BTC for House. Maybe in 6 months you could buy Apple for that amount of bitcoins

It was a good deal, since people learned they could buy real items with BTC.

Yea, I honestly think this was a kind of critical moment for the bitcoin economy, and it would have struggled far more than it did without some kind of transaction like this.  It's almost as if laszlo "sacrificed" himself for our future survival...

*starts writing this down.  Hell, it can't be more far fetched than Scientology...*
