What happened, may we ask?

There was a connection issue between two of the servers. Probably a short intermittent problem like you can see on the internet sometimes. But the live stats did not recover by themselves after that. This will be much improved in an upcoming version of the backend software I'm working on.

EDIT:  So, are we actually mining for blocks right now, or are my hashing going to the deep abyss?

AFAIK, mining remains unaffected. It's just the web access that has outages.

Would greatly appreciate the Doctor chiming in to give us an official answer.
Well, if the website frontend has indeed been down for 4 hours as mruiter's post indicates, then we've found block 248433 during this downtime, proving the theory that mining still fully works while the frontend is offline.

Same here. Website once showed 522 Connection time out error with CloudFlare's explanation. Refreshed again it's showing 0 TH/s and empty stats.

Is anyone else having trouble with BitMinter this morning? I'm getting messages saying "Website is currently unreachable" and the client tries to start but my ASICs don't actually start hashing...

That's just you.
I have ASICs mining on it now, and I have script detecting and screaming everytime by PC loses connection to mint.bitminter.com. It didn't happened today, devices mining 24/7.
Main website indeed sometimes get unreachable, but it's not affecting mining server.

Thanks for the reply! I figured it was just me but this machine has been going quite happily for the past several weeks and today decided to fritz out so I figured I'd ask. Should be an adventure trying to figure out what happened  Undecided

-Edit I was making it far more difficult than it needed to be. I'll take this as a reminder of why I start with Layer 1 before going nuts  Smiley

Is there a glitch in the matrix?  What happened to shift 17139?

Sometimes there is a conflict between database transactions and one of them has to start over. But sequence numbers are never reused. This way sequence numbers end up with "holes" in the sequences. I may remove shift numbers from the shifts list, but they are sometimes useful to be able to easily refer to a specific shift.

TL;DR: Yes, it's a glitch in the Matrix. Smiley
