What made the Ti's a bad choice was their upfront cost...Which isn't that much in a world where people are paying 450 for a 1070

The upfront cost is not a problem as long as the revenue is better. But GDDR5X is a problem for now.

I agree, the revenue is already paying back the costs. But we now a lot of reasons why ti's aren't (right now) the best options, you can just miner a restrict number of coins and make them profitable, with this variations on market and some bubbles, we could came from guys using gpu and making money to just dudes with gpu only for games. Pls consider this thought...

So you guys would recommend 3x 1070 over 2x 1080ti?

i took ti's lately.  less slots = more hashrate per rig

the 1070's scare me, and i warned of this before, they make like a few bucks a day with recent drop, a few more drops and their gonna be making like a buck a day Sad
the 1080ti are more future proof, they will SLAY any new algos or coins that drop, and you could mine for a YEAR on a ti, and prob STILL get good resale to a gamer (look at 980ti's price still compared to 970)

Think long! Mining is not a short game anymore! the short thinkers will be left having to build 25 rigs to do what the smart builders 6 rigs can do!
think of all the sheeple that ALL bought 1070! there's as many out there as 470! (i have 6 myself alone) haha.
the problem with the 1080ti is at 200 or 250 watt. tdp u need like a 1500 watt psu for six, 1070 you can run on 1200 or even 1000 watt

1200i vs a 1500i is only $100 difference. I was running all 1500i's and 1600w EVGAs but they got backordered and harder to get so now I just run dual 850's for everything, even 6x1070's which I have 1 running on 1 850w EVGA, they are all on dual 850's as well.

Hello again guys, just to enlighten your ideas. I have a RIG with 6 RX480 8Gb, and my PC came with a 1080ti, just for gaming and stuff. But mining is like crack, do you want more and more. So I had a idea to try my personal GPU and give some data to someone is in need.
After a couple of weeks I've reachead a optimal use to Pascal GPU (based on information I collected across the  Internet), this is not a thing to get rich or make a tons of money, but I have a medium sallary and any change in the income helps a lot.

The 1080ti is not the best GPU to do this, we now that, but we have this GEM, and we want to do some profit. If anyone want to BUY a new cards or research about best options to mine, this is not the ideal place, we are here just to trade and share informations about using the 1080ti we already have. (and maybe buy another one, to scientific purposes of course Wink)

Thanks everyone. Keep in touch. See you Later.

In a "normal" market where things are gong for MSRP you're right

In a world where the  only cards you can find at a reasonable price are the Ti's, they're the best choice

1070s are better at ~300 a piece, but you can't find one of those either.

Your 580 rig will be a much bigger risk because no one will pay what you find them for (probably double MSRP almost)

What made the Ti's a bad choice was their upfront cost...Which isn't that much in a world where people are paying 450 for a 1070

edit - obviously those prices in the states, might not be there yet in the rest of the world IDK. I just paid 740 for TI gaming X's, considering power consumption and density it's a great deal

All the 1070's I've been seeing are marked up by Newegg and Microcenter. Due to the already high price points of the 1080ti's, most of the vendors didn't touch them.

Microcenter has 1070's for $500+ I mean, I can get a 1080ti FE for $670.. To me, I went with the 1080ti for that reason.. I have (3) currently. Even if I give up mining soon, I will have a killer gaming rig and probably can sell at least one for a some good money sooner or later.

In my country we can get a 1080ti FE for U$1200 or more due taxes, can you f*$%# believe?

Founder's Edition cards will fetch more money later in the day compared to other Vendors.

But others come with better cooling and a bumped up clock speed.

So that needs to be kept in mind during purchase.

How long does these cards last with this kind of workload 24/7 ? anyone ever find out?

A year? I mean fans running at 86% speed 24/7 and cards working with 99% load.

that depends on what you plan to mine and how much room you have (1080ti takes less room for same hashrate or same room for more hashrate).

But for a card that is good on every algo, today I would choose 1070, tomorrow it could be something else ;-)

Any special reason so many are mining DGB?

Profits don't realy look good, with 1Gh/s you're geting what? 7-8$/day?

1080ti is not at is best on all algos. But it likes skein, x2 compared to 1070 while on equihash you would have only x1.5 for exemple. on ETH it's even only x1.1.

I cannot play games at those settings because I do not understand voltage curve properly yet.
Also, I'm on Founders edition card. I think I hit the lottery.

I told you 1Gh/s was not impossible, let's make some cash!!!

That's good, you'll never get those speed if your are playing games, and if you are, either it is stuttery or may crash.
As long you keep it nice and cool it will boost more

Today i found this topic, which made me doubt what i'm doing again.
I wan't to get in to mining after reading a lot and just because it seems like fun.

Was thinking of building a rig with the Pulse RX580 8GB.
Planning to mind Eth, and zcash, siacoin.

What i'm hearing is that Nvidia 1080Ti's aren't as good as AMD when it comes to ETH.
But will i do good with the other currency's like hash i'm reading, and zcash, siacoin?

Just really doubting between the pulse and this 1080Ti's.
And if i took them i was thinking about the MSI GeForce GTX 1080ti Gaming X, is this a good option?

Also in mind, i pay nothing to a few cent for Electricity.
And if i go for 1080ti's there expensive but for me easier to get also wan't do this longer.
Later resale them for other card maybe..

Hope to hear some good advice, thank you guys.  Cheesy
