Happy 10th anniversary Bitcointalk.org

I made this Art graphic because I was inspired by Orange  Style. Most of the images created represent parts of the bitcoin logo with the idea of showing how Bitcoin Forum helped to change your mind on bitcoin.

OK, time for a 2nd entry... and I've spent a bit more time with this one.  Wink

Here was my first entry.

As for the 2nd entry, I call it Uncharted Waters. Smiley
.. and some music (Feel good - Gorillaz) to go along with it.  Cheesy

I'll attempt to avoid putting my own opinions here on what it all means to me... since I think art can be interpreted differently from each individual. I will, however, try to explain the effort I've put into it. I've lost count on how many hours I've spent, and I wasn't really keeping track anyway.

The Background
I thought it would be interesting to re-create the main page of the forum as a background for the overall image I wanted to create. My hope was to make it appear as if it were viewed by satoshi on his last day of activity here, December 13th, 2010 4:45:41 PM. In order to do this, I had to crawl several threads and archives to try and ensure I was capturing the correct 'last post' in each category based on the last active time of satoshi... Note: I may have had a little fun with the staff forum, since I have no insight into that area, and I made up the total time logged in. Tongue  (edit: full disclosure - I did get some help from theymos on the category label & rough board counts for the staff area in 2010!)

To ensure the view was as it was in 2010, as a logged in admin, someone (to avoid name-dropping) suggested maybe installing SMF from 2010. (edit: theymos offered this suggestion.. after thinking about this, I felt bad omitting his name to avoid name-dropping, since he should get some credit.). Interesting idea, I thought.. so I installed a copy of SMF 1.1.11 (the version I determined to be installed back in 2010) -- which isn't as easy as you think in 2019, lol. After failing miserably trying to get it to install on a current web server, I ended up needing 2010 versions of PHP & Apache to make it all work correctly.. although, I was able to at least keep the latest copy of MySQL, however, I had to make several modifications to the install.sql file to ensure it was adapted correctly to the newer version and would create the DB correctly.

Eventually, I got it installed. (I was, embarrassingly, a little giddy Cheesy). and was able to setup my admin account as 'satoshi' to get the remainder of the content I needed to try and make this all look as accurately as I could. I eventually came across an archive from the morning of December 13, 2010 which helped me even more to fill in some stats at the bottom & board counts of each category, to the best degree of accuracy I could.

The HTML code I ended up with
For fun, you can see the background page I created by going to https://bitcointalk.org in Chrome, right-clicking anywhere on the page then selecting "Inspect". On the right pane that pops out, scroll to the top of the source and click the element, right-click this and click "Edit as HTML", delete the code that is shown and paste the code below, then click out of the code to have it display the page. (I kept all links in tact and updated them to reflect the 'last post' of each category I could)

Code:
code made my post way too long... CloudFlare challenged me, then the forum denied me lol - I'll post it separately if someone wants it!

The Ship & Water
I'll leave interpretations up to the individual looking at the image. Plenty of time spent here, and I had some fun with the water effects and creatures.. I found another use for the interesting bitcointalk logo I posted recently lol.

The word clouds on the sails are based off of BPIP's top 200 most activity, trust, and merit lists.
The top sails represent 1st-99th and the bottom sails represent 99th-200th, for each respective category (or, mast Smiley ).

TL;DR
Enjoy!! Grin

Full size is a must, IMO (...it's 4600x4600): https://i.imgur.com/XbZH7F2.jpg

I have additional thoughts I wanted to get into this image but I'm not sure if I'll have enough time to pull them off. I'll try!

This is the Bitcointalk House,

where every one is like a family helping each other to learn and grow here on the forum.
I made this digital and to represent our house which is secured using different sensors.

List of Materials I've used:

1. RFID (Radio Frequency Identification)
2. GSM Module (For Texting)
3. Solenoid Door Lock
4. 16x2 LCD
5. Multicolored LED
6. Flame Sensor (Detects Flame)
8. MQ-9 Gas Sensor (Detects Gas Leakage)
9. Water Sensor (To Measure Water Level)
10. Ultra Sonic Sensor (Motion Detector)
11. Arduino Mega

These are the people inside the house that makes this forum a great family:

-Theymos
-Suchmoon
-LoyceV
-Lauda
-Yatsan
-Vod
-Dabs
-Cabalism13

I should've included more members of the family but the house I've built is small. I've Just finished the entire functionality of the house, I'm sorry it doesn't look too much appealing, but as soon as I've finished decorating, I'll post it again  Wink

Here is how it works:
Theymos will enter the house using an RFID tag or card, if his card is registered on the system, his access will be granted, the will automatically open and it will be displayed to the LCD screen as well as the light will be green, as soon as theymos entered the house, the small electric fan will automatically open as well. There is a GSM module what will send SMS message to all of the member of the family whenever there is a fire, gas leakage, high water level and unwanted person enters our house.

This comparison of how safe our bitcointalk house is, will also be the representation on how our forum makes as happy and feel safe.

Happy 10th anniversary. This the bitcointalk house   Smiley

Hi I am quoting my previous work since now it is in a new stage of completion. I wanted to celebrate the 10 years of Bitcointalk Forum but also bring awareness and highlight its importance in the early days of Bitcoin. A time I did not even imagine Bitcoin existed. I am certainly a newbie among some amazing people that can be found here in this forum. So as I head to the Litecoin Summit to do my humble volunteer work at the LTC booth I made sure few special people in my eyes paid tribute to the forum. Hope you all enjoy! Feel free to guess names. Its is all part of the Piece. Happy Birthday Bitcointalk!

...

Interesting idea, I believe the value of your "piece" might increase substantially if you collage all the similar themed photos into a singular compact presentation  Wink, and reduce the size of your earlier work-in-progress shots especially when requoting them...

My daughter (3 years old) likes making artwork. The day before this contest started, I asked her if it's okay if I sell her artwork for Bitcoin on the internet. She agreed.
She came up with her own artist name: MehMeh (pink and blue was her choice), but she can't write it yet. I'll sign a SHA256 hash for this and all future artwork from 1MehMeh1Nwr1woiqzji1GZWDqezow2kVVr (not meant for payments) to prove it's authentic MehMeh art.
I'll use this post for future reference for the address.
