For any CNC programmers /millers out there with access to a cnc machine who are interested,
here's the G code to engrave the coin in pic. I used Mastercam 2018 to draw and program it and its posted
for a mazak control. (saved as an .eia file) A few very minor edits of the header and/or renaming of file and it will work on any fanuc control.
It cuts the pattern .054mm deep using a .125" diam. carbide ball endmill or equivalent.
If I run it myself I'll post a pic, but we are really busy right now, so may not get a round tuit.
Anyway, basic CNC 101 operation...to wit...
Load a blank of material of choice in vice ( solid gold or silver would be nice, just save the chips, lol)
Mill (or turn) a 78mm diameter and chamfer.(G54 job datum is the top and center )
Run this code/cut file.
Turn over and and hold in vice with milled jaws to suit and decapitate (ie ...mill to desired thickness)
oh yeah...If you win...just gimme a shout out.
