Thanks for these tips. I don't follow all the 12 steps at this moment, but it's always good to know how to make our wallet and Bitcoins more safe.

Is possible to hack Blockchain.info site for an example and steal wallets balances? This is my only fear.

Well most are common sense but some you can easily forget or make a human error. The most common ones and I cannot stress it enough but the following rules are so important. Write them down !
#5: DOUBLE CHECK ALL URLS

#6: DOUBLE CHECK THE CRYPTO ADDRESS

#9: BE CAREFUL WITH DOWNLOADING TOO MANY WALLETS

And probably most important....

#10: BACKUP YOUR PRIVATE KEYS

And not online offline. Offline is always best.

Thanks for this informative post. But using different address for each transaction is a way kind of hassle. Much better to use only 1 btc address for each transaction.

Good informatio except this line

Phones and web wallets tend to be less secure than core wallets and cold storage.

I think
Iphone are more secure and are the best
Phones are not good place to keep bitcoins, because it's easy to lose your phone with all bitcoins or someone can easily steal phone from your pocket.

I prefer to have something portable which i can use in many devices like laptop or phone on the go, but stucking only on the phone is not a good idea. A good idea is to have another security layer at the phone like CM Security and mazlock.

it is not about convenience it is about security. of course it is good to have a wallet on your phone and carry it around so you have access to your funds at all times but you should always keep in mind the risks you are taking so keep minimum amount there.

it is just like your physical wallet which you put in your back pocket, as you don't carry around thousands of dollars in your back pocket then you should not keep tens of bitcoin in your phone (hot) wallet.

If you constantly carry your phone around, it is very insecure. Theft, damage, anything really.
Web wallets are obviously the worst possible option.

The line is correct.

Was just about to search for this after reading about a guy getting his wallet emptied from his computer, seems to happen to you if you have a decent amount sitting around. Will shelve this thread for when I am sitting on coins.
