Well, maybe they were thinking that BTC is about to crash, so they abandon the ship. This is what I see. They could have keep their coins, but they chose to spend them. Actually, I think they were wrong, a new car is sure to depreciate way more than BTC.

I want a tesla too, but at this price i will need to wait till Bitcoin have a price higher than 10k dollars. Or a bit less with the model 3 car (if it comes with a cheaper price as paper media said).

It will be like with the pizza transaction. In 2035 they will regret that didn't HODL Bitcoin.

Cheesy

It is very likely that they will rebuy the coins long before their value increases massively.

It could also be that they bought the coins specifically to purchase the car and would otherwise never have been in their possession.

Buying such large assets with Bitcoin is really exciting. I'd also love to see the ability to purchase real estate, buildings and plant & machinery with Bitcoins. This way manufacturing units will be able to deal in payments using Bitcoins and save tonnes in overhead charges.

It is already possible. The ability to transact in Bitcoin between two real persons depends on their will to accept Bitcoin as the currency of their trade. If they both agree to accept Bitcoin, you can buy anything in bitcoins.

there was a chinese selling one but for a greater price, i'm wondering if he was able to sell it in the end

i believe it's betetr if they use their coins directly instead of dumping for fiat and buying then a car, maybe those website can offer some form of discount to encourage directly spending of bitcoin

That's great news for BTCitcoin as a whole. IIRC there was a Chinese guy on a Chinese forum who put an ad for selling his Tesla car for BTCitcoin as well (Not sure if he manage to sell though) and then this news come out. From what I've known from Jamie, he will still find excuses to damage BTCitcoin image.

I'm pretty sure he meant Tesla. Probably just a typo.
Anyway, the company will be rich in the future if they hold the Bitcoins for another few years. :O

If this news on mainstream media, people might think bitcoin isn't dead.

Maybe in future, people could buy an island or huge company only with bitcoin

I think that the company that sold the car used a company that allows customers to pay with bitcoins and seller receive fiat money. The car dealers make a good deal, sold an expensive car and now have free publicity on bitcoin new media.

im guessing the savings on using electricity as opposed to petrol

was the deciding factor, plus the fact they have to dump some

some coin it has to move to someone to be of actual value,

whoever sold the Tesla if they hold onto the coin will be a very

very happy person after the halving

Coolio. I wouldn't care if the purchase price is trillions in the future. Imagine going back to 2009/10 and telling people on here what types of transactions would be taking place.
