ISSUE RESOLVED: Between 09:10 and 10:20 UTC a series of malformed requests to the pool server caused it to crash repeatedly, which badly degraded service. A new version has since been deployed that can handle such malformed requests.

Service is now back to normal.

I've unsticked this and updated the subject to indicate that this isn't a pool (and thus its hashrate is doublecounted against the pools its actually using) but instead a hopping proxy service, as it's name is potentially misleading.

Could you please be more specific about what pools you are mining on and how you choose which pools you are mining. Are you using bithopper, or some other custom software?

It would seem that while you have "come clean" about what you are doing with shares you have not explained the how.

Are you pool hopping proportional pools with other miner's hashes?

[...]
What I can say is that we're using a variety of sources. We mix those both to spread the block-finding risk as much as possible, and to ensure a stable experience for our miners. The most important thing for us, and indeed the whole idea behind launching ABCPool originally, is to provide miners the most predictable mining experience possible: known rewards, low stales, low latency, high uptime. It turns out there are lots of pools out there that are barely functioning, so balancing stability and risk is quite a challenge.
[...]

Did I miss something or did you not answer gigavps question yet?

Yes, they do. Check our thread for a official Bit LC Inc. post Smiley

EDIT:
Quote
"I cannot stress enough how heavily we customized Pushpool, to the point it's almost unrecognizable. Many hours went into that. You also mentioned Bithopper. ABCPool does not use Bithopper, or any custom mining software for that matter (besides pushpool and simplecoin of course)."

So much lies.

Kano, Randomguy7, thanks for your reports!

I've just deployed a patch that should resolve the "New block detected on network before longpoll" issue. If only all error messages would be so informative as this one, the world would be a better place Smiley

There should still be an LP reset every minute, this is due to restrictions of our loadbalancer. You can ignore messages for that, they'll occur every 58-60 seconds for some mining clients.

If other issues continue to surface, please PM me a log of >4 minutes around a newfound block so I can take a detailed look. Also include the version of the mining software involved.

Hmm I'd actually say that the LP's also don't always arrive.
Getting "New block detected on network before longpoll"
in cgminer every so often (more than once an hour)

Edit: 2/3 of them don't even get the LP at all, whereas 1/3 of them get the LP after

Does cgminer create some log file with more detailed errors? Currently for me most LP requests result in an "java.net.SocketException: Unexpected end of file from server" error. The requests who don't fail with this error don't work because there's no id element (not a valid json rpc response).
Every LP setup request works fine.
So I guess that is unrelated to your problem.

I just don't always get LP messages when I should be getting them from the pool (in the 2/3 case mentioned above) ...
thus there will be no log at my end explaining it.

Hi,

there's a bug in your LP implementation. The LP responses contain no id element.

NEWS: There's an issue with a recent release of the poclbm mining software, affecting mining on all pools. If you experience 'unexpected errors' with GUIMiner or poclbm please check out this thread:

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.732081

For now you may downgrade to a previous version and you should be OK. There should be a binary release later today according to those involved, so you can *upgrade* instead of downgrade to fix the problem.

I am not sure that I have received a double payment (translate.google)
... This happened only to a few users ...
A friendly suggestion: if indeed only a few users were able to perform double payouts it might be wiser of you to just dole out the money and perhaps reset/freeze the offending accounts' balance.
The negative values reek of unprofessional code, not unlike negative item count in a web store's shopping cart.
Do you mean to say that your miners owe you money now?
What's more to the point, if someone performed a double payout of a larger sum they'll just ditch the old account and create a new one thus rendering your countermeasures are ineffective.
Most of the affected users have already mined their way back into positive territory, both small and large accounts.

They trust us to keep their balance safe, and as it turns out we can trust them too when something goes wrong. I love our miners!

Happy hashing everyone,

You don't have enough money in your account for a succesful payout (account holds BTC -2.29770277526). - What is this?

Only a few posts up...

There were several transactions that were registered incorrectly. After checking that the transactions were indeed included in the blockchain we have corrected the balances of the corresponding users, rounding in their favor. Additionally, we gave the user that reported the issue a reward for his acuity. For those affected, be aware that corrected balances are likely to be below zero, since in effect we pre-payed for your work.

Sorry for the inconvenience!
