2017 is a very special year for Bitcoin and this year Bitcoin is up high and swaying, but bitcoin will always last, and the achievement of 10,000 $ / BTc will be a sweet note later this year.

This is certainly the era of forks - You have the Brexit fork to the EU, The Ruble fork for the Petro-dollar. A few Bitcoin forks, and there is still time for some more Bitcoin fork suggestions. I vote for 500k blocks, and faster block generation. Smiley

I think it is too premature to write of SegWit2X and also the Bitcoin Cash attacks. The people behind these attacks are not

just going to give up, because they invested a lot of time and money into these attacks. I predict a follow-up attack before the

end of this year. Let's just hope Core team can come up with counter measures before the tipping point is reached in this

whole saga.  Angry

10k$ is just an arbitrary number which doesn't signify anything special just like 1k, 2k or 5k were. Price will probably stay there for a while since people do like round numbers but i'm quite sure it will move on after some time.

Even though I know, what you are trying to tell from a mathematical point of view, I have to disagree on the "arbitrary number".
Milestones such as $100, $1000 or $10,000 are significant and as we are all humans, we are influenced by the shift from a 4 to 5 digit number. As similiar to 2013/2014, when $1000 were achieved, I am sure that the media will report big time when $10k for BTC are hit. This again, will have an influence on the perception of bitcoin and its price development. Hence, $10k is nevertheless important.

The global acceptance of Bitcoin has started this year from financial giants of Wall Street to banks in Singapore. I am glad bitcoin is now being taken seriously at global economic and financial landscape. 2018 will indeed be a better year with major countries and institutions jumping in Bitcoin increasing its global popularity and acceptance.

Reagrding remaining 1.5 months of this year, I don't think any major news will be there leaving CME group actually starting bitcoin futures. This gonna boost the price definitely and Bitcoin might touch $9k by the end of the year. Leaving it, some minor manipulation by whales might follow as recently done in BCH. But at end predicting anything in Cryptocurrency market is worthless. Anything can happen anywhere.

I think we may have a cooling off period now until after New ayear. When I say cooling off period I mean a period of stability in price which is never a bad thing.

The storm is over. The banned issue has passed and people who have lost hope have risen from the storm. Now one page will be opened and this will give new hope to our few investments in bitcoins. The 10,000 $ BTC is approaching. And this set will no longer be restricted because bitcoins are still the ones foremost. We expect this price to be announced in the coming days.

ICOs ban in China and what happened to exchanges, the fork cancellation, problem in transactions confirmation and many other things. None of them caused bitcoin to lose its fans. After those events and confirmation problem which seems that is solving, more people will believe bitcoon and it will cause the price to rise very much.

What a year indeed! Im still very new to the crypto world but its been a roller coaster so far and tracking the BTC prices has been an event in itself! Ive paid a lot of attention since around June time, and kicking myself for not lumping in on it then! Lives and learns I suppose.

I think, with Segwit2X delayed/cancelled, lots of people who only bought in - to take advantage of the "free money" to be dished out - will be selling their positions, or rather that has happened over the weekend to some extent.

Today and right now we are back over the $7k mark and I reckon we will hit $8k without too many problems before the end of the year.

Its a finish line that holds lots of importance for people balancing the books and showing a tidy year end profit and growth - question is does that mean people will HODL or people will sell? Either way I see $8k coming very soon, and in 2018 Id be very surprised if we didnt see further exponential growth.

Is anyone on here hedging? Anyone had fear drive them to sell in the dip over the weekend? My movements are tiny but I did manage to do well out of the fluctuations, however the transaction times and fees have been awful.

Question - if miners tend to stay away from BTC in the coming months, would the Bitcoin Core Team look to make changes to the difficulty to lure miners back?
Long transaction times and huge fees are not enticing for those sitting on the fence, and I think adoption by the masses is what will keep the drive going behind the prices.

For bitcoin 2017 was a great year. I came to bitcoin world in April of this year when the price was 1100-1300$. But with 2month the price gone to 2000$, & after 4months the price gone to 4000$. Then everybody know the rest. It hits 7000$. I think bitcoin will hit 11000$ with in january,2018. Good luck for the new year bitcoin. Wink And we should enjoy the era of crypto currency.

Indeed it was a crazy year for Bitcoin. According to me the positive ones were way better than the negative ones. 7x times the capital within one year is really a huge achievement. I just hope BTC increases with the same rate and crosses $10k soon.

2017 clearly was a turning period for Bitcoin with all the events from the massive growth to the latest attack on Bitcoin.
The massive growth from $1000 to $7000 this years was a great achievement fro BTC. Then came the ban of ICOs in china followed by shutting down of Bitcoin exchanges. Next were the forks started by Bitcoin cash, BTG, Segwit2x(although was suspended). Then the news that CME group would be listing BTC futures. Now the attack on BTC with a huge load of transactions because the miners switched to BCH.
All of this was were some huge movements in the crypto world. There is exactly 1.5 month left for the year to end. Can we expect more such events or the is it over and we can finally see some peace around here. BTC hitting $10k would be the next big news for me.
