Perhaps this next week.

Only $23 USD to go, and we're golden.

I find the market reaction to the news very interesting: judging by the price increase on Gox, BTC is apparently accepted as a "safe-haven" in this particular situation - and BTC being considered a "safe-haven" is quite novel and interesting. It means that many of the advantages of BTC are so obvious to the buyers (free movement of funds, no freezing, etc.) that they outweigh the risks (volatility, etc.). A sign of some maturity, perhaps?
My impression is that people are buying BTC purely so that they can move their money out of Gox, and that once withdrawn, those bitcoins are getting deposited straight into another exchange to be sold. Just as the price at Mt. Gox has been going up since this announcement (due to a glut of immovable USD), the price at Bitstamp has been going down (due to people's dry powder being trapped on Gox).

Absolutely agree, that makes perfect sense. Still plays on some of the most obvious strengths of BTC, though: unfreezable funds and near-instant transactions.

Man people in this forum are overly optimistic.

To me Gox suspending USD cash withdrawals is a bad thing.

Who's going to want to buy bitcoin when you can't even get your money out again. People buying to sell are only going to cause a large amount of arbitrage between the places where they're selling. It might raise the price a bit, but probably not that much.

If it hits $150 next week (a distinct possibility) I don't think it will stay there very long, I suspect $150 will trigger selling and bring it back down to $100 to $120.

so your saying that it is quite possible that it will make it to 150 but then sell of to 100!!?!?Huh damn that  would be a sell off. if it hits 150 and it starts slyding to 130 or 125 than dont you think someone would want to buy those now cheep coins and keep it up into the 140s range? why would it slide 50 bucks???

I can't believe this thread has not a single chart or graph or anything to support any of this speculation.

Are there any sites to bet against people like this? You'd figure with sports betting someone should have come up with a BTC prediction bet sites. Take 10% whatever. Should get a lot of action. Everyone spouting out random predictions.

Guess wait and see.
You could always just... make trades based on your predictions. Futures contracts and so forth.

I hear some of the Bitcoin exchanges support 'em.

Wait, you can bet using the market?

Bitbets.us is another.

Is betsofbitco.in the one that scammed people regarding the ASIC bet? I don't remember.

Anywho,

I think we'll hit $130, chill there for a little while - then it's up to $2660 and a crash down to support at $500, where we will soon rebound to just under $1000.

 Cool

I like this.  Any time frame for the rise to $2660?  Any reason for the correlation between the old high of $266 and the new high of $2660?  Is the number 266 special I guess is the question?

Statement Regarding Temporary Hiatus on U.S. Dollar Withdrawals:
https://mtgox.com/press_release_20130620.html

After just selling 85% earlier , i'm now all in again, after much thought put into this recent news lead to only one outcome:
Exodus of USD from Gox, and there currently is only one exit: Buying coins. Expect artificial price boom now.

This is gonna be an amplified reaction of the dwolla price rise. I do not rule out $150 by next week.

Same thought as I read the news!
