It matters in this case, because the perpetrators were allegedly fleeing from "persecution" in their home countries and received asylum in Austria claiming that their lives are under threat in Afghanistan/Somalia. Good luck with that now. After this incident, it's very likely there'll be no new talks with rebels there. The Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao was made after the government signed agreements with the MNLF - from which forth a new group with an epic name - MILF - sprang forth. This group is also negotiating for a much larger territory and more funds but as far as I see, any talk with them are looked at negatively by people here. Heck, even some Muslims ("they don't represent us")

This attack will sour people's opinion towards any sort of appeasement. Considering Duterte already have a lot of critics, he'll toughen up and try not to look conceding.

Sad to hear this kind of story considering that the victim was still a minor and sad to hear that migrants did it to her. What they are thinking when doing that crime, don't they have a mother, a sister, a grandmother, or an aunt? Maybe they are using illegal drugs or mentally ill that they were able to do such crime. A death penalty would not be enough for them. It would not end a day without hearing stories of crime.
