Install the Microsoft 2008 C++ Redistributable. You can download it here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?familyid=9b2da534-3e03-4391-8a4d-074b9f2bc1bf&displaylang=en

I had the same problem, it fixed it for me.

seems to me, a fully patched win7 x64 box with all optional windows update stuff should have grabbed that.
i recall seeing it downloaded by win update just yesterday when i built a box.

He's using Windows XP. I had the same problem when I tried to mine with XP.

crap. i misread the darn post. i thought it was win 7. sorry about that.

Use SDK 2.1 and reinstall GUIminer

SDK 2.1 will not work with a 6xxx card.

Install SDK 2.2 if you are using 64bit windows, for some reason SDK 2.4 does not install correctly.

Once it is installed you will see both SDKs available.

make sure to use --platform 0 or --platform 1 in your flags.

Use SDK 2.1 and reinstall GUIminer

sdk 2.1 does not support 6xxx series cards.

and frankly.. the whole ATI/AMD software thing on win 7 x64 was not complicated for me.
i just downloaded their current drivers for the card and that contains everything i needed.

edited to add:
i misread. the OP is using XP.

I am trying to get my 6970 to run openCL. It runs openGL without any problem, but I cannot get the CL working. I have tried every driver I can find. I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times. I have even tried installing just the Cl driver from AMD and that did not work. What do I need to do to get this working?

I am using XP 32 I have tried to install Plclbm.exe and GUIminer, but I get this error when I try to run them.

“This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect"

I get the same message when I open it with a .bat using this command

"start /DC:\bitcoins\pfile poclbm.exe --user=***** --pass=***** --device=0"

I have tried 11.3, 11.4, and 11.5 none of them work. the card is up and running I just can not get the openCL working.

I have tried AMD APP SDK 2.4. no change

Here is a screen shot of the error message. This comes up with GUIminer or poclbm.exe
