Sounds great

I'm curious how you will provide merged mining before the offical launch. Would be awesome, but I understood there will be a change to namecoind to provide compatibility with the already mined coins

About Sep 5th, no worries, it's an experimental pool, I'll stick it out 'till u get the job done

Keep up the good work

Thx

Davinci,

I appreciate u trying to get a pool ready for namecoin mining, but it seems you have to get merged mining working before the next difficulty change (somewhere in november).

If BTCguild and Deepbit will support it, they will dominate the namecoin space, with their hashing power. Difficulty will be at the forecasted low levels for only 1 or 2 days.

With namecoin mining only you won't be able to keep up.

Have you thought about that ?

Brat
Yes I have and I will be providing merge mining 1 month before it's actually available but taking huge loses, effectively buying the miners.  But there are MANY hurdles, currently my script is WAY to slow as it is.  Second the free version of MySQL can not handle the kind of load Deepbit has in shares.  3rd this means I must scale back on the features I would have wanted to add.  I will sacrifice the namecoin client and maybe the affiliate program.

The code is a mess it does to many slow queries on data that can be static!  Like the previous round, all it's data is collected from the shares the don't change!!!  CRAZY.

Then I have to change the UI so it's neater.

Not sure if I can make Sept 5th.

Great to see you moved to Amazon !

About the pay-per-share, will that be choice for the miners, or will that be the only way to participate ?

Brat

Miner choice.

Finally finished the move to Amazon servers I want to move on to Pay-Per-Share coding but the database is so in efficient and slow that I had to move from micro server to large and it's still SLOW!

I must fix this bug first.

The cool thing is I have the 2 boxes at Amazon!  One is the MySQL server and the other is namecoin, pushpool and web server.   The link between the MySQL and the web server is secure via ssl but pushpool is not so do not use the same password for workers as you do for your log-in.

YES, YES I do not have SSL enabled on nmcbit.com YET but it's good practice for when I do.

Pool luck has gone sour over last 36 hours however the over all luck is very good as our total shares are 2.6 million and our total blocks found is 29 so we should have found 27.65 blocks thus we are up by 4.9%!!  Yeah!

All good boys!

Major down time coming soon
I'll be moving the system to amazon EC2 copying the db and wallet up to the server will take time.  This should cut our down time and improve access to the servers.

Sorry again folks modified the crontab to add a rdate time synchronization and screwed it up causing my reboot NameCoind script to run over and over again. Good thing the down time was short.

This has got me thinking should I do updates and fixes on a test box and role them over to the production?

Doing so means slower updates as I will need to test them, build a package and schedule down time.

Thanks for your generosity,

It's a beta-site so these things can happen

My Hashes are grossly overstated on the Dashboard and Statistics pages.

I'm supposedly mining at 1700 MHash while I can't be mining at more than 1.150 max. Some of my miners have 400 MHash next to them and they don't do more than 270 MHash

No idea what's up or if the number of shares is right

FYI

Brat

I change the time on the server because it was ahead by few hours.  So your MH rate will be off for a while.

Hmmm I guess the site is down, I see my miner went to mine at deepbit instead

Brat

Yeah sorry forgot to turn off windows update on the host machine and it rebooted.  Would have create an auto start script but figured I would be moving it to remote server soon so why bother.  Well that's why.

Namecoind.exe does not have a GUI (graphical user interface) however I will be making a very simple one that does not have all the bells and whistles that bitcoin.exe but you will be able to create an address see your balance and send coins for v0.01.
Hehe,Don't think that will be necessary.I posted a link a while back concerning a GUI interface from another site. Here are the files[yes they are virus free according to ANTIVIR w/the latest definitions] and I have used it.It also allowed me to see my address and send namecoins over at bitpark in exchange for BTCs as a solo miner.I also have 550 M/hash and might join the pool soon.

Looked at the source nice and simple 0.01 version with zero bells and zero whistles.  Nice how it's like 20 lines or so of code.

Who created it?

Ah well I will take it add it to my web site.
I honestly don't remember, just happened to be looking  for a "namecoin gui" in google and found it that way.I suspect it was from either the Dotbit forums or here.

We found a few blocks that are not showing up I made a change to update script but undoing it did nothing.  Need to find out what went wrong.   Don't worry your block money is safe.

[Fixed]

Wow 5 blocks found in that time  total of 8 blocks for Sunday!  HUGE day! HUGE!  Thanks everyone for your support.  I was thinking of a way to let you guys audit me because I wanted to be different but after this huge bug I'm thinking an external audit will insure that everyone gets every last namecoin comeing to them should I have missed anything.

How will it work?

Well I will create a new wallet transfer the namecoins to that wallet.dat and expose the wallet.dat file and it's database.  This way even if me or someone else working for me did modify the DB anyone could use the private key to check all previous blocks see if scammed one.  Smiley  It would be a lot of work but I would stand out in the crowd of pools.  Any comments would be appreciated.
