There is no info or official sources claiming a giveaway (around this time) from Official Appy Geek themselves.

Are you sure there is a giveaway?  I want a credible source (prefer) from the official blog or website reporting this.
You must have missed this: https://www.facebook.com/AppyGeek/posts/10152017042932883?stream_ref=10

Also, I'm sure everyone would be okay with 2 grand. Entered! http://woobox.com/r7ypa2/711t84

Better idea would be to give 20 people $100.

Significantly improves the chances of someone winning something, or even structure it in tiers - because in addition to winning something, they also get Bitcoins as their prize, and if you set it up smart, you also get all of those CoinBase affiliate links.

To age myself: My first BTC trade was via Dwolla - MtGox when it was trading at the $7 range. I sold at $16 and still kick myself for it!

Just out of curiosity, when did you buy back in?

Can you escrow the prize? I can hardly trust a random 1  post newbie.

Hi Rigon,

We're using Coinbase for the USD-BTC purchase about a week before the drawing. I realize the exchange rate will fluctuate, but we'll use Coinbase's standard rate at the time of the transaction.

The nice part is, the payment to the winner will be instant and there will be no bank fees Smiley

I'm a long-time bitcoin enthusiast and I've read plenty about BTC on bitcointalk, just haven't participated in any discussions.

To age myself: My first BTC trade was via Dwolla - MtGox when it was trading at the $7 range. I sold at $16 and still kick myself for it!

Any questions just PM me or email [email protected].

Thanks and good luck!
Sasha

Is the price holding on a btc walllet?
Would be nice if we can see the price :-)
So many fake contests around ... thanks!

Hi roslinpl,

I'm not sure I understand the question, but we are using a sweepstakes platform to collect all the entries. The randomly selected winner will be notified via email on the 24th of April (next month).

The winner will receive payment of BTC just after the sweepstakes ends (we will notify and verify the winner first). Here are the complete rules: http://woobox.com/offers/rules/r7ypa2

The company is Mobiles Republic and we produce mobile news applications. You can contact us at: [email protected].

Thanks and good luck!

Hi all,

I convinced my company to host a $2,000 bitcoin giveaway to celebrate the new release of our tech news app, Appy Geek (iOS, Android, Windows 8 ).

With today's conversion that works out to about 3.4 BTC.

We make a tech news app that's become pretty active with bitcoin news junkies. The "bitcoin" user-added topic is among the most popular topics in our app.
