I'm finally taking the plunge in to altcoins this week, starting with $2K to invest (and hoping for some decent returns within 3 months).

This is what I think my starting portfolio is going to be (welcome people's input on my choices!):

NEO: $800
OMG: $400
ZEN: $400
ARK: $200
LSK: $200

Only thing I'm wrestling with right now is whether to reduce ZEN to $200 and boost NEO (which I'm pretty bullish on) to $1000.

Just waiting for my normal exchange to process my wire so I can shove some BTC over to Bittrex and start making trades Grin

Waves is a good buy it's so cheap now it's ridiculous, just because of the FOMO around other coins

Waves will not give you much profit, stay away from it. You should buy OmiseGo and AdEx.

If I were you I would invest in Lisk! Rebranding is on the way and software developement kit is out before Christmas so the price is gonna fly a couple a times....

There are a couple of exchanges and websites out there that offer you the ability to give out loans using your Bitcoin. The regulations and the method of doing so are different, just make sure use a trusted site that provides a guaranteed pay back and uses escrow.
I would recommend to invest any amount but only in trusted sites.

It depends on your time frame. With the upward rise of Bitcoin there is no reason whatsoever that you couldn't go all-in with Bitcoin, sit back relax and cash out 6 months later. This might work in the 30-day range , but I wouldn't count on that to happen within 30 days. Beyond that if you were looking for something more short-term.

I have already some waves and ETH, so skipping those two..

I don't know how Ark is, yet Signatum and Districtox are promising projects. I regret for not buying that neo tokens before. It really gave amazing profit to its holders.

Waves and openanx are also good ones to invest, for me.

Anyone here will tell you to invest in the coin they are holding. Not saying it's bad but is quite unbiased.

I would invest it in Golem or XEL. Pretty solid projects from both of them. And yes, and holding some Cheesy

Any time someone calls a coin a "sleeping giant", it goes down like 5 cool points in my book. There is no less than 10 "sleeping giant" threads here started daily.

That being said, RADS do seem like a pretty legit coin.

You can buy ETH right now 1 ETH = 286 USD, this is very low, you can buy with 2000$, many people was says eth wil pump to 2000 USD/ETH

I'd spend half of it one ICOs that you like. I avoid to tell which ones I like, DYOR. The other half is for coins like STRAT, OMG, PAY, BQX. But this is just me.

My opinion would be to go for ICOs, the ones that are promising and which have not yet put their foot in the markets yet through their coins because things which have no values at first can give you extremely big once everyone understands the importance for the usage of that coin. Viberate is also good (though advertising them, this is not an endorsement so please research and then invest) because they are giving artists an encouragement through their coin and look promising in their project as well as work and the whole team is extremely active in it.

You narrow it down to ARK, ADX, XVG, and SC. That I think is already good. Divide your $2000 profit into four for those four coins. I think you will have a good profit in three months. But remember that there will be a dip in BTC this November, so there is a possibility that it will also affect some alts.

I don't this those coins are good for your investment. I would go with ARK, STOX, MCO, TRUST, ADX, IXT and CDT for my investment. Most of them were successfull with their ICO and their price still growing until now.

Yeah, I think BNB has huge potential. And Binance Exchange is doing really well. I read somewhere that they will 'burn' 20% of the Circulating Supply, do you know more about this? That would even push the price a bit more.

OP--> ARK and OMG are imo good investments for 2 yrs.
