Wow that is great news, the more politicians that are willing to accept bitcoins, the more that are likely to support it in the future.

Cool!

I also wanted to point out he's using my new https://www.bitcoinbuilder.com/donate/ service to accept the political contributions. It's designed completely for complying with local campaign contribution laws, so the candidate can set max donation amounts or if they require an address, etc.

I just sent the link to someone working for a U.S. Congressional candidate that just moments ago decided to accept bitcoins for his campaign. It'll take a a day or so before his website is ready, I'm sure. Let y'all know when it is ready.

It automatically forwards all the contributions to a "main" address set by the campaign, but keeps a nice log of everything including the market value at the exact moment of the contribution. It's more specifically suited for this than the bitpay buttons mark warden put up after originally just posting one address to send to anonymously! Hmm, maybe I'll contact him and see if he would be interested in switching. No fees at all too! (I'm not sure if bitpay is charging their normal fees.)

josh!

Cool! Not that I support a small group of people governing anyone without their explicit consent but I think this is good because if politicians are seen accepting it maybe bigger businesses will find the courage to follow suit.
