I have my sympathies for Xerox. They were a great company. But ever since Ursula M. Burns was appointed as the CEO, the company is going to the dogs. Workers are not getting any pay-rise for 6 years in a row now. And at the same time the top management got almost a dozen pay-rises.

During its early years, Xerox were great innovators. But Apple stole many of their innovative ideas (such as LAN networking and GUI).

This news (that Xerox is experimenting with BTC) means that they are going back to their innovative roots.

I'm trying to see the advantage.
People with cell phones have apps for BTC.
Sending over a land line....? For older people?

I would like an option for spending bitcoin over the phone for example, when calling a donation hotline, to be able to provide bitcoin payment in real time rather than needing to pay an invoice later.

Not bad.
It would be so much more secure than giving your cc number over the phone.

I worked in the finance division at Xerox for quite some time.  I actually pitched the idea of using Bitcoin to save on international transfers to the high level executives back in early 2012.  Interesting to see them opening up to Bitcoin now...

That is a bummer...someone else is going to get all the credit for your implementation idea...

Welcome to the business world...

... way to detect and differentiate data over a voice call and establish a dedicated p2p gateway ....

...technology would then allow Bitcoin to be sent across a phone using voice-coded in-band data over (a)symmetric cryptographically secured p2p gateway...

sounds to me Xerox is stuck in the 1990's sending data via 56k modems.. guess they haven't heard of fibre optic internet or 4g mobile internet yet. much easier to send bitcoins these days

Not everyone has a cellphone.

Trust me there are people I know that never go on the internet.
