These represent a significant percentage of the mintage for these two coins, which is why I am open to uniquely accommodating this sale. The holograms' authenticity and their intact status is the primary security for these coins (I have yet to see a hologram replica of our coins). These holograms will show the first digits of their public key, and still link to a page verifying they are authentic and linking to the blockchain transaction that funded them.
It's weird you're in the Collectible business and don't understand that over time these intact coins become more rare due to a lot of them being peeled. The long term holder's coins grow in value as they have risked leaving the bitcoin on the coin (are we going to hit $0 tomorrow) in the hopes that others with weak hands have peeled their coins. Normally you have unpeeled/peeled but now for maybe the first time ever in this space we are supposed to price in some "used to be peeled but aren't no more?" coins?
There's nothing wrong with an unpeeled and a peeled secondary market. This "restoring" you are offering is absolutely an unnecessary service provided by your company. Your coins are damn near one of the highest/most prolifically faked collectibles coming out of China. You open up an extra attack vector and the only person that loses is the people that have trusted your coins for this long.
To me this looks like a cash grab. You take your money made from reholo'ing these and the people holding the original coins pay the price. Christmas lookin real good this year kids, Daddy's got a new job.
I'm merely accommodating one of Titan's larger wholesale customers and helping with their resale effort. Not a cash grab. I'm just as happy (happier) if they sell as peeled.
I do understand the increased long term value of the unpeeled coin. In this case, my thinking was that because the collectible community has been asking for these coins, and there are none available for sale, this would be an opportunity for new owners who never had a chance to own these coins before (or even an awareness that they existed).
Generally more awareness creates more value on the second market. Hence, I believed it would be appreciated by the community that some coins which were never made available to the public were now being sold. That's why I offered to reload these.
I'll take your perspective into consideration though, and if it seems to be how most current owners feel we will just offer these as "peeled".
