in my opinion, from experience and research. I think that Ethereum will be first in top altcoins 2018. The next is EOS, Venchain, Neblio and Deep Onion. They all are good prioject.

To get a good forecast, you need to do a more in-depth search on Altcoins' plans. It is almost impossible for a single small investor to make a complete study of many altcoins. However, i have different opinion but always remember, different is not always bad.

Side thought. This year could be the year of institutional money flowing in. This will mostly go to high market cap coins. Possibly even pushing those higher, while draining money from low-cap coins (people will sell those for higher profits)...
