The market should get better, and more mature in my opinion... I think a price close to the historical trend is good. Dec 2017 was an example of too quick, too fast; if it grows gradually but steadily it should be better. Or, it might simply be a repeat of the 2016 pre-halving scenario, as someone suggested on r/Bitcoin:

Next year bitcoin will continue integrating into our daily life. It is hardly to predict the pace but the will be more ways to use it. And the interest to blockcahin technology will go up and so its price will move higher.
If I give you a concise answer, I will be lying, we really do not know if it will improve the market, all we can do is see and wait, actually things are very complicated now to see an improvement, but who knows, maybe the new year will surprise us, we are already seeing symptoms of improvement, but with cryptos you never know.
