@carlfebz2. However, who was the real winner? Bitcoin, I reckon hehehe. She was induced by the people to talk about it in front of her millions of followers.

if she doesn't understand what bitcoin is how can she be a supporter of Etherium?

I think she's having a bit of fun at the expense of crypto pompousness. But I'll bet you there are people who 'support' ETH who don't know anything about BTC and probably understand nothing of ETH either. Possibly the majority.

Even to those people who are into BTC and ETH or other alts in the market wouldnt really have that knowledge on what they are into and as long they
can possibly make out money then thats what matter most.

This is why its really hard to believe on when someone popular do ask out because we wouldnt know if they are just trolling or up into something and this one is a clear example that she's just trying to boost up his ETH holdings? haha

Feels like that she do have that significant impact?

I just hop into this thread again and I didn't knew that Rowling is still continuing to joke around with people in Twitter. It might be his way of getting back by not receiving any proper answer during the first time she asked around what Bitcoin is. Right now I'll see here continue doing this kind of tweets as long as she gets attention or some kind of backlash from the Bitcoin community. I didn't know Rowling was this active trolling people in her Twitter account with the followers she have I think she can cause a FUD in the market.

@gentlemand: I've been cleaning my bitcoin slowly over the years, removing Thetans from them and using a new redirector to transfer them into random altcoins.

@bbc.reporter: Next move: CZ teaches a women how to fish for Ethereum.

@buwaytress. Agreed! Maximalists' behavior have become very embarassing. Worse behavior than some altcoin communities.

In any case, she adapted to the community very quick. This is impressive heheehe!

Harry Potter author JK Rowling continued to rile up Bitcoin supporters today, when she apparently revealed her allegiance to BTC’s No.1 competitor—Ethereum.

Rowling tweeted, “This is getting silly. I’m not joining the Bitcoin community. It should be perfectly obvious by now that I’ve been trolling Bitcoin in the hope of boosting my significant Ethereum holdings.*”

Hey, scientologists have all the answers. You can't beat somewhere that'll stop you being gay and gives you the meaning of life to boot.

Unlike Scientology you should leave the cult of bitcoin with more money than you arrived with, by the grace of Xenu of course.

Yeah, one person is irrelevant to Bitcoin's long-term adoption, but this whole twitter chain is a good demonstration that crypto people don't understand non-crypto people at all, so many prominent people in the comments failed to make an explanation that would make sense to a layman. How are we supposed to reach mass adoption if we can't connect with potential adopters?

Yeah, this is really not about Rowling but about the "Bitcoin community". I'd love to defend it but I know what it's like too. At least this forum's got plenty of helpful people but once you get into that mire of corporate bitcoiners it's clear that they don't really understand the things they're supposedly trying to promote... mainstream adoption, banking the unbankable, etc.

Even the Scientologists are better marketers than these guys. They should just leave the marketing to their CMOs.

J.K. Rowling:

  • is a billionaire denominated in a government issued currency (many Zimbabweans and Venzuelans know what that's like Wink )
  • is a former student of a UK red-brick university
  • wrote childrens books that subtly glamorized both the university-education and banking industries

bearing those biases in mind, I'm not sure if her comments are especially meaningful.

I think we're set for a perpetual cycle of taking a brief interest in Bitcoin and then getting overwhelmed by the responses and effectively being driven away.  It's like they're just getting slammed with a wall of information and it's too much to take in.  People need to take it down a notch.

They can't. They're too desperate for a pat on the head. The way for Bitcoin to give people like her an erection is when her own financial people advise it. That's the best and most viable route. In the meantime it's far better if the screeching kiddies keep their traps shut.

Leave no FUD unchallenged
Makes me glad I don't have a twitter account, heh.  I'm only more convinced by the day that the only purpose served by twitter and reddit is for all the idiots to congregate in those places, so that the rest of the internet can be a nicer place.

Let them think as what they believe. We cannot force them to use bitcoin or join in the bitcoin world. If they don't need bitcoin, so be it.

Many others want to learn, to use, and to hold bitcoin. If somehow, JK Rowling finally buys her first bitcoin, then let her search for what he can use with her bitcoin. I am sure many people want to teach her Grin

Well, now we know exactly how good the Twitter crypto people are at teaching a newbie about Bitcoin. And this is exactly why I don't just go round telling people about Bitcoin because unfortunately, it scares people off if you go on and on about Bitcoin like a crypto fanboy. Just as people would go blank if you go harry potter 100% of the conversation.

@figmentofmyass. There was also a reply from Changpeng Zhao, CEO of Binance which appeared to be more stupid than the others hehehe.

Teach a women to fish? Is this his best effort to trick JK Rowling to create a Binance account?

We don't need JK Rowling to understand Bitcoin.
She cannot do anything in order to grow the network or to make it mainstream in economic worlds. The only think that she could do - if she really understands the meaning of Bitcoin - is to write a book about it and give a little fame to it.

A fine demonstration of the utter ghastliness of crypto Twitter, but she comes over as something of a knobhead too.

It just goes to show the desperation to please and for acceptance that its fans have. I thought they might have outgrown it a bit. Tis an ugly and grasping look.

what a dumpster fire. i feel embarrassed for everyone involved.

brian armstrong might take the cake for the worst response (to a fake account no less!) but there are many competitors for that spot. https://twitter.com/TheStalwart/status/1261779484203720706

the twitter scene in general is looking pretty douchey these days.

Why are people overreacting to this and thinking that this is something negative towards Bitcoin? Obviously the wrong thing that JK Rowling did is ask "What is Bitcoin" in the internet on a social media platform where a lot of trolls exists. The answers she would get will obviously be not correct or at least be stupid enough for Rowling to be confused. If you read the article now you will see all replies to her are answers about Bitcoin in relation to her books which will confuse anyone who really don't know what they are looking for.

Hu? She can manage to sell lots of HP stuff for Bitcoin? That would do a lot
