I understand we are entering altcoin season and things will be bullish. But when will we see the downward trend? Are we talking mid 2025?

I know its a bit of an unknown but interested in hearing peoples views/predictions...
Maybe we are starting to see a downward trend. The entire cryptocurrency market is bloody right now. I don't know how long this bloody position of the market will last. As Bitcoin has gone from $108,000 to $99,000, the altcoin market is completely collapsing. Each coin is dumping about 20 percent to over 50 percent. In such a situation, those who are holding altcoins are facing a lot of losses in their investments or trading. I don't know if the altcoin session will start in 2025 and if we will be able to recover some of the altcoins we are holding. Because the market situation is not looking good at all.

I guess what im getting at is ... should I sell altcoins when they reach a decent high (take profit or reinvest in BTC) or HODL with them with the hope that one day they might explode like BTC ?
---
Sell your altcoins based on your selling strategy. The question is what is your selling strategy?

Is doubling your initial capital enough already for you to sell your altcoins? A 50% increase would be enough for you. The term "decent high" is something that you and I will never know because you don't know what the peak of these altcoins are. Some might reach new ATH, and some might not. Set your selling price, and if that reaches, sell and don't even care if the price goes up after selling as long as you made profit off of it. That's regardless of what altcoin you are holding.

As for taking profit and re-invest it into Bitcoin, with the recent drop in the price of Bitcoin (nearing to be below $100,000 again), it's good to buy some Bitcoin IF the money that you're using will be your own, but if you're planning to sell your altcoins to buy some Bitcoin, I don't recommend doing it and would rather hold those altcoins instead, and HOPE like you said. For me, HOPE can't be connected with investing into crypto. Strategies are, and always have a strategy because that would help you along the way.

The author and the sole controller of the cryptocurrency market's 4-year cycle is Bitcoin. Technically, the fate of the altcoin market trend is determined based on the BTC trend.
I would be more careful of the altcoin market if I were you because a lot of shitcoins are mostly created this season under the hype and bullish trend of BTC to fool newbie investors/traders. But if you must choose altcoin you can go for the altcoin GrayScale added to their ETF.

Having said that, the market correction mostly happens a year after the rally market, and I expect the next correction to happen around 2025 Q4. However, it will be hard for most crypto to experience big market correction due to institutional banking, and world investment companies (Grayscale, BlackRock, etc) accumulation.

Ones in question:

XRP
TRX
AAVE
XLM
ADA
EOS
FIL
DOT

The thing is bitcoin is the OG coin that superheads the bull and bearish market and base on bitcoin past trends the year after the halving is usually a bull run year and then the subsequent year is the bearish year this years are both 2025 and 2026 respectively which means we will see a general bearish market in the 2026 year, but as advice most of these Altcoins take precedent of bitcoin they can have their bearish periods way earlier than bitcoin just like most of them are yet to even pick up and start pumping now.

My advice is when you feel insecure with these Altcoins it is better to take out your capital and allow the rest to ride or take even some profits and keep moonbag this is way more safer because this Altcoins are not bitcoin that you can diamond hold on to

A speculation board would be a good board for this discussion topic in my opinion if you are willing to move it.

We are entering altcoin season. This is when we need to be able to choose which altcoins we are going to choose in expecting good returns.
It is not uncommon for people to get caught up because they do not have enough knowledge about this. In my opinion, a good altcoin is one that has a strong foundation not one that follows the hype.

That remains unknown for us. But as what most crypto analysts have said, altcoin season will only become visible when bitcoin's market dominance starts to slow down. Or when bitcoin starts to experience price crash due to different key factors, next to it is gaining altcoins dominance that may lead eventually to an altcoin season. However, this remains a prediction until it's finally happening in the market.

Based on my own analysis, I think from the second quarter of next year, we will start to experience bearish movement in price of crypto, but towards the end of 2025 could spike another bull run. According to the price history of Bitcoin, ATH usually comes a year after the halving year but that record has been broken this year that bitcoin get to hit a new all time high in the year of its halving. So, based on my prediction, we are still going to experience huge price surge towards the end of next year but second quarter will be a slow movement.

Altcoins market have not being picking up along side Bitcoin in this season and many cryptocurrency market analysts are wondering why there is divided chains in the current crypto bull market, and a reason for them to expect a different altcoins season differently from current bull market.

But looking at the above altcoins market charts image,it shows a high of volatility which suggest that any investor hold back from buying any of those new coins in the market.

It is always hard to say for sure in certain years, although it is not impossible for it to happen in a certain year as you said. But seeing the current bullish conditions that continue to strengthen at the end of this year, of course the possibility of a price correction for coins and also for all altcoins could occur in the middle of next year, but I don't imagine it to be much bigger because there are now many people who have liked Bitcoin and also some of the top altcoins that have good networks at the moment. So the potential for a price drop may only be momentary in a small size for all altcoins that already have a lot of interest in the market.
If you look at the pattern after bitcoin cycles, next year is the year the coin will increase. Remember the market always moves in cycles even though the time is not the same but the pattern will usually be the same. So even though there is a correction, it is only temporary, which feels like the "worst" when a correction occurs, rest assured it can be a "victory" later for those who act wisely in looking at market history.

In essence, corrections are bound to happen, and sometimes all coins are red. However, for those new to crypto, this may seem like a bad time, but for those who have known crypto for a long time, they will take advantage of this to make a profit and miracles happen.

Honestly, according to my analysis, we are already in the Bull season and half of our journey is already completed, I'll be expecting a parabolic move with the altcoins from here and then we'll see the market will take a final correction for liquidations and the than a last phase on a bull run in the Q2 to Q3 of 2025.

Even though alts are not multiple x from their bear zone but still 5x to 6x is a decent performance in my views, if you waiting for a dump to buy in my views you are wasting time as a good correction and a healthy side movement are done in past few days a parabolic run in alts is expected now for the current level when Bitcoin's dominance and price gets a stable zone somewhere between 101k to 105k after touching 111k.

I'm still looking forward for the 111k in this week and than a stable zone for Bitcoin and a parabolic zone for the altcoin market there.

Mid or 2nd quarter of 2025 is my guess. Right now people are overly optimistic about the market but we all know that’s how people lose money. It feels like bitcoin won’t make a big correction ever and go to $1m without interruptions. When everyone has the same feeling, a huge crash happens. Then bitcoin will be as dead as a shoe for months. People will say btc is dead. Crypto is dead. I wish I haven’t bought etc… Then it will moon again. We have seen it many times before. Next time won’t be any different than the last time.

I believe that the kind of money that we saw in the ETF is very low. During 2025, we have a very VERY strong feeling that we may see the largest Bitcoin purchases through the ETF, wherein the volume with be billions and billions of United States Dollars will be seen entering the Bitcoin ETF markets. There will be billions in volume for a few days during a month, for perhaps three to six months in 2025.

We probably might not have the four year cycle anymore because institutional investments have become a larger part of the Bitcoin market.

Regarding the latter, yeah, I still remember when there are thoughts amongst senior members here in the community that we might see a super-cycle, or at least Bitcoin breaking the pattern and seeing 2 bull runs.

So this could be true for now as not just average investors, but there are whales and institutions investing. And now we have countries wanting to put Bitcoin into their balance sheet so that is huge. Like US and Trump saying about Trillions of dollar as making BTC as national reserved.

But actually if you zoom out to the maximxum, WE ARE already in a "Super Cycle" which has started since 2010. 👀

Plus if you zoom out the Dow Jones, the Nasdaq, and the S&P-500 to the maximum, they are ALSO in a Super Cycle. You know why? Because the Federal Reserve keeps expanding their balance sheet by printing money. Money-printing WILL inflate prices. That's why we HODL Bitcoin as a hedge against the legacy money system.

How were you able to say that we are entering the altcoin season? I don't think so. A lot of people waiting for altcoin season but Bitcoin is always spoiling it.
Bitcoin dominance still above 50%, top 1 market cap altcoin Ethereum still having difficulty to stay above $4,000 nor created new multiple new all-time high just like what Bitcoin did.

This isn't related to altcoins as a whole, but for the year 2025. I just saw it from Twitter, and here's the link and the tweet: LINK
Quote
My prediction: [bookmark this post]

In the first half of 2025, we will experience a HUGE overall worldwide market crash resulting in a significant decrease in quality of life, worse than 2008. Potentially as bad as the depression. Civil wars possible.

Prepare accordingly 🧡
Well, this tweet includes all of the markets including the crypto market, and the stock market and other markets as well. We don't know if this will happen obviously, but better be ready. When we will see the downward trend? If we will base on the 2021 price movement, the market went up significantly during the first 3 months of the year, and during the month of April, that's when the market started to go down and even though it recovered and went higher during the month of October, I don't expect for that to happen this time.

If you want to be safe, sell all of your asset at around the 1st quarter of 2025. Sell your Bitcoins and altcoins. If you want to keep some then do it, but sell a huge portion so that your profits will not turn into a "SCREENSHOT".

Yeah, that's unknown and no one will know until we see it. I don't think that it's going to be in the midst of 2025. That's more likely the top or ceiling that we're expecting to see for this bull run. Time is running out but there's still gotta be more with this market. Thanks to Trump and Gensler getting out of SEC soon. So, with all of those news, that gives me the idea to remain bullish and even the potential Bitcoin reserve that they're talking about that's been on the news. But then, I don't put too much hope but that won't make me feel bad remaining as bullish since we're still in it.

Currently, some altcoins are in bullish mode and they are doing well for the investors and traders but of course after the bullish mode they'll reenter the bearish mode and then they might lose so much from their value.

Most of the alt coins are pumped but not all of the alt coins have gained value. There's chance that some of the alt coins that reached such high values may not be able to cross those values and fall down again.

There's chance that many of the alt coins will go in bearish mode way before actual bear market and that's why one should be very careful when trading or investing in alt coins.

The truth is - hard to trust alts. Should have very solid reason why you need to invest on them. Most have short lifespan so to speak. If you can't keep up with their updates, better discard it while it has value in the market. Otherwise, the likelihood of holding worthless coins is high.
