At the time, doing something probably would have been a good idea, just so he knew people were actually paying attention. Might not have stopped the bots from running up the price of BTC at MtGox tho.

I will go to Japan and meet up with davidpate + other fellow bitcoiners, film / record it all and find Mark Karpeles to confront him about his lack of communication skills and just what exactly is going on over there at MTgox

1. Your goal at bitcoinstarter is BTC 25. You won't be able to finance your undertaking with this amount I think.

Aw man, he could have had such a sweet trip with 25 BTC now.

Confronting him would do little to nothing to resolve the problems that GOX account holders have.

If you do something stupid you would likely end up in jail.

This makes no sense, sorry. Showing up in person isn't going to get you any more information. Mtgox said that the bank in Japan limits how many wire transfers they'll do per day. I believe that. What needs answering is why it's taking so long to establish new banking relationships.

I think his kids would be proud of him.  And kids don't need their Dad standing over them 24/7 anyway.   Give them some space, Pops.
I was thinking more about his wife about to give birth, she might appreciate his presence; however as he pointed out I do not know his situation and have no right to speak.

I just know if it were me I would rather be with my wife than jetsetting around the globe.

What are you going to do, wait outside MtGox HQ all day until Karpeles comes out?

This is what I'm wondering, what sort of qualifications do you have?  If you were some sort of investigative journalist I could see this possibly having some use but right now it just sounds like you're a random guy trying to either get a free vacation or play vigilante.

Which exchanger are you using?
Mostly bitcoin.de and bitstamp.net.

Quote
As I said in my previous post, mt.gox is still the more widely used website so far to buy and sell btc.
I guess that's all based on their past reputation. Right now it seems pretty useless to me:

It completely riddles me why anyone would want to buy BTC there, because the prices are higher (probably for the reason mentioned below) than any other major exchange.

It also riddles me why anyone would want to sell BTC there, because you can't get fiat out. I had to wait 3+ months to get a shitload of Euros transferred to my bank account (and still didn't get it). I ended up cancelling the whole thing, buying back BTC (at premium price), withdrawing them to another exchange and selling them there.

To clarify the latter: I'd prefer to keep my money as BTC rather than fiat anyway, but in this case I needed some Euros (wanted to pay off mortgage and stupid banks still not accepting BTC directly Sad).

Why the f*ck do people still care about MtGox? Huh
Gox is history, other exchanges run the show now. And that's a good thing.

Get your coins out while you still can and ignore this whole Gox debacle.

People still use MtGox?

Lol, of course.

24h volume = 10k btc.
I don't think that any exchange got a higher volume.

(bitstamp volume = 7.8 k btc)

Lol, yes I was asking myself the self question. He will refuse to see you, and you will be fucked up Smiley

You should better try to contact him over email or twitter or whatever.
And I don't see how this could help.

I am pretty sure you can find a Japanese guy to do that himself, instead of making a trip.
