man I so want to move all my miners here during this nutso luck...

but we all know how that goes! as soon as I do that... 22hour block 18hour block 12 hour block! OMG!

me just go back to not touching stuff...

I mined elsewhere but always switched back to slush...my daily avg. on slush pool is higher than any other pool I have mined with.

Found Lost beach - quiet now
"My Account" info shows I found my first block (304223). Who-WA!

But when I look at it on blockchain it shows 0 transactions and 0 transaction volume. Does that mean it's a dud?
Well done!  And no. it's not a dud, it just means that there happened to be no transactions attached to it, and thus no transaction fees.  Not sure why, there would normally be some in 17 minutes.  So the pool just gets the straight BTC25, less Slush's 2% commission.  The following blocks look fine, so unless something really disastrous happens, like a major fork (highly unlikely), we share the payout.  Thank'ee kindly!

Thanks for the explanation and you're welcome. I shared in a lot of previous payouts so I'm happy to help out.

You do realize that 10% has absolutely nothing to do with the "completeness" of a block, right?

That's 10% into the CDF for the time it SHOULD take to find a block.  We might find a block at 11%.  We might find one at 99.989%.  That's why the pool has a "Luck" statistic.

I wanted to check my old account balance but I think my account was disabled for being unused for a while. I can't submit a ticket because it says my username doesn't exist. What else can I do to get in contact with someone?

the submit a ticket username/password is separate from your mining account user/pass and it is recommended to use a different one.
so just register and submit your ticket.

well excuse the fuck out of me for letting my voice be heard about the pool.
I wasn't filing a ticket here just venting.
Yep I know if you don't like it there is the door. Wasn't why I posed what I did.

yeah, it kinda feels bad if somebody jumps in just before a block is found. But honestly, it is still a matter of luck. That guy who jumped in at the eleventh hour just may have jumped into the middle of 25 hour block. there is no predicting when a block will be found except statistically for a given hash rate and luck can kick that in the teeth.

Slush's pool was the first. The best? that is in the eye of the beholder. If you think you can do better or know better then start your own pool and let the miners decide. Coming into this thread and saying "this isn't fair" or "it should be this way" accomplishes nothing other than pushing up your post count. Nobody who matters reads this thread anymore.

Yes I would be at that point and that is the gamble we take when we choose a pool and it's backup.
And I would take the loss since I chose the pool I mine on and the backup.
I understand we get paid "faster" since more power just came online. I get it.. It's a good thing for sure.
Ghash finds blocks multiple times a day and if I wanted a paid every hour I would mine there.
Yet it doesn't seem like our rebuttals is getting thru to anyone.
Because when the pools go back up the power goes back to the other pools and we stay.
But those guys got their equal payout so they don't care while our score means crap and we get less.
Sure it's all about luck. I can play the hopping game here.
Oh look 10% done and already an hour into the block. Guess I'll go mine somewhere else for the next 8 hours
and come back for the last 2 and get paid like I was mining the whole time at slush.
Been there done that... It works quite well actually. Almost like clockwork really.
Right now 3 hrs into the block. I could point my miner to ghash for the next hour, get paid and come back
and collect my payout here as if I never left. Slush might find it in the next  hour but the odds says the pool won't.

tl;dr please summarise

Slush does not monitor this thread anymore. If you want your voice to be heard, I suggest opening a support ticket.

It is what it is and we can either live with it or move on at this point. Even if it IS more profitable to hop from pool to pool etc and collect the extra hashes per round but I have much better things to do than play the pool hopping game for a few extra satoshis!

So if/when Slush pool ever goes down and your backup pool is say Eligius...wouldn't YOU be the "pool hopper" at that point???

I understand the mechanism Slush has and I am okay with the pool's anti-hopping system...you guys need to remember, we all have a backup pool setup in our software, no sense complaining when a group of miners fail-over (backup) to Slush pool, just goes to show how reliable Slush pool is for those other miners to direct their hardware to our pool when theirs goes down. Sure I make less per round but on the other hand the extra hashrate should increase our blocks found and although the "hoppers" or rather fail-over miners earn about the same as the rest of the Slush pool, the anti-hopping system works.

I sure as hell cannot determine what pool is going to discover a block at any given point in time.

My point is this - On say a 12 hour block, loyal miners will pay a lot for electricity.
A pool hopper comes in within the last hour and gets the same reward for a fraction of the electricity.
I do understand that we may find the block a little quicker but loyalty is not being rewarded here.
And my point is that a 12 hour block with ONLY loyal miners will became two 6h blocks (with half of your reward) if the pool hashrate doubles because of pool hoppers, so you will get the same amount of BTC for the same electricity used.

If you know when the round will end - use it for your advantage and jump to the pool which will find the next block ... or better yet play lottery if you can see the future, because that's the only way to know when the round will end.

Just to remind the situation a few months back - every time the pool hashrate approached 1Ph the pool luck was low and the newcomers got nothing by jumping in, so ...

It all depends on luck for a short period of time and is equal for a long period of time

I never pool hop.
I am loyal to Slush which is why I am fighting our corner.
KNK - Imagine we are into a 10 hour block. Then another pool goes down and our hashrate doubles. From that point onwards we will solve the block say in one hour instead of 2. Understood.
But the loyal miners are paid the same as the hoppers. Not fair.
