No. VarDiff will in time will optimize your difficulty for your miners to maximize your submitted shares and minimize stales.

I'm afraid the reason has nothing to do with stales. (And where there's said that submitted shares are accepted shares?)
In fact, VarDiff tries to minimize ;-) the number of shares submitted, trying to conserve bandwidth and server load for fast miners.

If this is the case why offer lower difficulty shares at all for slower miners? Yes correction I meant accepted not submitted.

There has been a possibility to manually set the (minimum) difficulty (UserDiff) of the shares sent to the pool. It has been replaced by (automatic) VarDiff some time ago.
This is something different than the network difficulty.

Yes, something like that, i was looking for. So it is not possible any more.  Tongue

Can I adjust somehow the difficulty that I get? I thought that you could do it from the workers edit, but there is nothing there.

I'm not sure what you mean by adjust the difficulty.  That is determined by the bitcoin network.  If you mean adjust the amount of work you get, just power down your rig for part of the day.

AND the last one was just found to be invalid.
24 seconds too late, apparently.  Nothing in the pipe.  Cry

So a different pool or someone found the block 24 seconds before us?

Or, better, some pool has found a block. Because their block is different from the one our pool has found.
They've found a block with the same block number ("height"), i.e. position in the block chain.

Yes, you are trying to mine a scrypt coin.  Bitcoins are hash 256 or something like that. There is the first page on Slush's Pool about 2/3rds of the way down; and it has a working example of config file for mining bitcoins.  Or are you trying to mine a Scrypt coin? But, you said mine bitcoins so....   Good luck.

To start cgminer I use a .bat file containing this: 'cgminer --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://stratum.bitcoin.cz:3333 -u **** -p ****'

Also the intensity I set it to makes no difference

How can I start mining bitcoins?

I'm pretty sure that slush isn't running a Litecoin mining pool.  I'm pretty sure the cgminer example is shown on slush's website.

need tons of fees

If you have a transaction with paid fees, starting in a block that is later invalid, what happens to that transaction?

If it gets included in a block that is orphaned by the main chain, it will be eventually mined and included in the main chain since it was never confirmed by the main chain.  Typically a high priority transancation that paid miners fees would be included in the orphaned block and the main chain block that replaced it.

Keep in mind that the block reward and the mining fees can't be spent until there are 100 confirmations on that block.

Nice answer thankyou.  Smiley

anyone have that link to overall luck on pools? if I remember correctly its pretty good on slush

I refer to the information on pools posted here.

http://organofcorti.blogspot.ca

If you look at the March 16 post you'll be able to see a comparison.

It's nice to reflect on but past performance isn't an indication of future performance. If you remain on the line with any of them long enough you'll see it averages out.

I think payouts would be relatively the same over time on any pool

No need to worry.

If we end up only completing 4 rounds todays, just think .. .. it could always be worse.

1 round a day is bad.
 Grin

Now get back to mining, slaves.

ya... you could be in EclipseMC and get 1 in every 4 days.

Ha, ha..  1 in 4, Now that's funny.  Grin
(but probably not if your in EclipseMC)

I would hope the payouts are very high.
