Yeah, it's kind of disheartening on a level.
It has me doing a miner shuffle.

... and now we are there. 1000376 a few minutes ago.edit: ... and still climbing. To think it was around 9500 when I started mining...
Looks like we blew through that and still have momentum. I don't mind more blocks with smaller payouts. The long waits can be discouraging but I do prefer the pool and in spite of some glitches here and there.

A short drop in hashrate? The avg 30min hashrate dropped below 100ghs from what I saw. The pool mining addresses were a black hole on the internet. Ironically, as I was typing this, all of my miners had to reset and reconnnect. Doesn't seem like it's 100% fixed yet. Payouts have also decreased. Have considered moving rigs to another pool til slush sorts it out. Have been here since I started mining with cpu. Will hate to have to move due to unreliability.

I believe they did up to the point the pool switched from getwork to stratum protocol.

I'd wait for gen3 Asicminer systems. If they meet their spec it's going to be tough to compete given they should also have a cost advantage doing so on 40nm process node.
Bitmain is chaining more of their current ASICs in the S2 which given it's price point for the time of delivery isn't significantly less than likely the same hash would be if they are still offering the S1 at the rate of price reductions they are going through. The only significant advantage in price may be the integrated power supply.

Although the process is nicely described and mathematically correct (albeit the current "C" decay variable being completely unknown, as it is described as subject to change), it doesn't give much practical info to a beginner new at the pool.
And indeed it nowhere states :
- leave the pool for ~30 Minutes and lose your entire shares reward (regardless of number of shares delivered)
- jump in anytime for a mere ~30 Minutes and get full reward based on your GH/s performance (even if you participated only in 10% or less of a round total time, doesn't matter)
Took me a while to find out just how ultra-sensitive and extreme the anti-hopping logic treats the score.
After understanding the extreme asymmetry, of course the understanding for the expected score/reward came. Still, I'm not surprised seeing questions still popping up (i.e. I gave 100000 shares to a round but literally got nothing ?!), they're still legit and understandable.
All the rest would be philosophy (i.e. is the extreme anti-poolhopping sensitivity justified? etc.) and I won't go into that - things are the way they are. They work, so one can get used to them. That's why I'm still there, slush is still my favorite pool.

Nope, don't see anything where it is explained where one could have a close to typical number of shares and be rewarded 0. Lots of other good info though. And if all questions were answered before asked one wouldn't need support forums, now would we? n00b.
Back to my original post...my split of hashing with BTC Guild and Slush were equal for 5 weeks. But the last 8 days, BTC Guild payed out 3/5 of what I made here at Slush for the same hash power on both.

Why is that CAPTCHA so insanely difficult?
I had to try at least 10 times before getting it right this time.
I'd say about 50% of the time I get it right on the first try.
35% it takes two tries
10% three tries
5% 5 tries.
It seems to be very moody.
It is hellish. I am dyslexic, and have 20/950 vision. My nose has literally hit the screen before when trying to get the damn thing right. I'm not sure why we even need one, these are not the codes that launch nukes or anything. Jeezus.

In English at least, all letters are capital letters and I've never seen the letter O, but Q is used a lot.
