"I'm not following the established directions for connecting my miner(s) to Slush's pool.  As a result of me not following directions, my miner(s) aren't working properly.  Therefore, it must be a secret global conspiracy, all in the name of robbing me of my 0.002 bitcoins for the round.  INTERNET RAGE!!!!!!"

the 101 adress is down for me

presently stratum is only resolving to

Non-authoritative answer:
Name:    stratun.bitcoin.cz
Address:  109.74.195.190       <=- wildcard answer for unresolved dns entries... you would think slush would want that removed.... eh?

which is
Name:    kuzlatko.palatinus.cz
Address:  109.74.195.190

VERY FISHY indeed...

OH my bad hah! that is someone trying to make profit off a mispelling on stratum

Name:    stratum.bitcoin.cz
Addresses:  95.211.52.40
          54.225.116.174
          54.215.3.101
This cannot be fishy Smiley slush's real name is Marek Palatinus, so kuzlatko must be his backup server.

I keep getting a ton of connection problems -- I had moved to BTCGuild for a while with 90% of my workers to wait it out and see if Slush improved -- but I had almost all of my Slush workers (in two different locations) error out with connection problems last night. Is this a permanent issue now ?

75% of my workers halted yesterday with error "unknown encoding idna" a friends did the same thing also...
I am going to go out on a limb and suggest some erroneous data was sent to the miner clients from the slush servers

Looks like slush is too busy with his Trebor or whatever it's called.  Pool seems to be limping along on it's own, and doing a bad job of it.

Regarding the Poll: What type of pool payouts do you prefer?

I think it should be reset.
A lot has changed in the last few months. I live in the US and it takes a lot longer to get USD out of Bitcoins.

They are invalid because they do not belong to the longest chain of blocks, they are orphaned forks.
We can't "do them again", its just lost work.
It happens, when two blocks are found nearly at the same time, and ours has the bad luck of not being the one on which the ongoing blockchain is based.

also bad luck = the back end servers CPU's being hammered (our previous reason for lotsa invalids) or network issues...
we solved the block, but the servers are having issues connecting out to say "WE SOLVED IT", during that time someone else solved they were able to connect out and announce it.
usually I would ignore the invalids as they arent as bad as before, but seeing the back end servers losing each other on reporting shares to each other recently, I'de have to guess they are to blame. or not.

What is the problem with all those invalid blocks lately? Do we have to do them again? Where are those coins then?

Sorry.. does butterflly lab support stratum mining/proxy? Thanks.

This is a rather basic question that does not really belong into this thread. You also failed to provide details on which product you mean. Please check here before posting the next question: http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html

I assume you are not talking about BFL minirig, but other products. They are connected to a computer via USB and you need a mining software on the computer to use them. The mining software communicates with the pool over the network (or with bitcoind when mining solo), and uses the BFL hardware to solve cryptographic tasks. The BFL hardware is not aware of what protocol your software uses, it just crunches numbers as directed by the software. You should check which protocols are supported by the mining software of your choice. You will find that both stratum and getwork are supported by practically all the miners.

Make sure you read up on the topic - you could save yourself some frustration/headache.

Cheers,
