I don't think that suggestion is practical as well. Australia can detain / deport the migrants as per their wish, and can transfer them to countries such as Nauru and PNG, which depends upon Australia for funds. On the other hand, the European Union laws make it extremely tough for nations such as Italy, to introduce such a measure.

That makes things difficult indeed. Perhaps using the Australian model could be useful.

It is not that simple. Most of these migrants are from distant nations such as Ghana, Nigeria and Liberia. Once they get to Libya, they will destroy their passports and other identification documents. This is done to prevent deportation to their home nations. Now the only option is to send them back to Libya. Before the NATO invasion of Libya, that was being done, at a limited level. But after the NATO invasion, this option is not available anymore.

This is very bad, the coast guards should return them back to their respective governments instead of dragging them right back into the ocean where they might run out of fuel or food and die on the way. There must be some stricter measure to monitor and take care of this issue as many people are dying time after time.

That's right. It's just easier to catch them in one go while on board, then chasing them in Sicily or between the Laconian mountains in Greece.

That will act as a deterrent.

If these "refugees" are granted asylum, then another half-a-million more will sail from Libya and many tens of thousands will lose their lives. Illegal immigration should never be encouraged. Only traffickers gain from such boat crossings.

Libya is under civil war. After the fighting started, black people – became very vulnerable, because all the youth had weapons and they could rob ppl's house. If ppl went out for something to eat, a gang would stop you and ask if you supported them. They might be rebels, they might be government, we didn’t know. That is the reason why ppl are desperate  for new life in somewhere else in Europe.

This is very sad, they should have stricter regulations to monitor and stop this that it may not happen again in the future. These things could have been already prevented had the governments stepped up their monitoring effort.
