I wouldn't think weed is a significant part of Silk Road.

Weed is really easy to get for any person that does drugs. And it's not as easy to mail either .

I don't know if there are any stats available but would imagine weed is one of the least popular drugs to buy on the market. At least for Americans.

Rarer, hard to come by drugs are probably more popular on Silk Road in rates disproportionate to their general use. Stuff like rarer psychedelically, DMT, high-quality MDMA and all that other groovy stuff.

The road was a god send for me and my weed.  As I got older my "hook ups" disappeared, or grew up themselves, making it more difficult to get good product as I become more domesticated as it were.  ]

Now I don't have to harrass a friend, give them money, wait etc... I just order up what I want.  And being domesticated and all, have an income where I can get larger stashes that last a good while between orders.

I haven't really poked around the other areas too much on the road but the mary jane section has TONS of items and sellers. I would actually guess the opposite, that weed is a pretty big seller on the road.

I'm glad I live in COLORADO!!!!!!! (and have a medical card Smiley )

Actually, somehow this generation (the kids in school right now) figured out how to get drugs without ever speaking to a dealer, or leaving the house... So there is actually probably A LOT of weed in the mail, now... I would say that maybe more money is spent on MDMA, or that it is a more profitable market... But for some reason, I think this generation has a lot more weed in the mail than anyone else ever, and there are a lot more "lone stoners", learning about drugs from Erowid, then buying them on the silk road.

hitler's birthday? wtf?
Hitler's birthday was on April 20. I've always found it weird that the date has become associated with pot smoking, haha.

I'm an "Outreach coordinator" for the 4/20 rally in Denver, the one in front of the capitol building. Over 200,000 people expected throughout the day. Maybe over 500,000.

It is highly unlikely people would purchase stuff on Silk Road on April 20, just as one would not be particularly inclined to fly on September 11. This marks the one-year anniversary of Silk Road's largest scam in history.

Of course, maybe Silk Road customers are too crazy to care.

I would imagine you would have to order your weed a few days prior to 4/20 to celebrate on 4/20.

And then, you have to order more weed to replace what you and your stoner buddies smoked on 4/20.   Grin

Sorry but what happened or what have to happen on 4/20 ??

420 is a "pot" day of sorts, people like to get stoned out of their minds on April 20. I don't know the history of why though.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/04/20/420-weed-day-marijuana-april-holiday_n_1437964.html

tl;dr: (Wikipedia) The earliest use of the term began among a group of teenagers in San Rafael, California in 1971,[2][3] calling themselves the Waldos,[4] because "their chosen hang-out spot was a wall outside the school".[5] The group first used the term in connection to a fall 1971 plan to search for an abandoned cannabis crop that they had learned about.[4][6] The Waldos designated the Louis Pasteur statue on the grounds of San Rafael High School as their meeting place, and 4:20 p.m. as their meeting time.[5] The Waldos referred to this plan with the phrase "4:20 Louis". Multiple failed attempts to find the crop eventually shortened their phrase to simply "4:20", which ultimately evolved into a codeword that the teens used to mean pot-smoking in general.[6]

I don't think we'll see anything significant due to 4/20 being reflected on bitcoin. The volume that SR makes up isn't that large to begin with.

But I certainly will be celebrating! Cheesy

I was always told that 420 was the police code for busting someone with weed. It was all a lie!
